Next project on the list is to come up with a way to store all my funnels. I know I've seen a few on here but can't seem to find them in a search now. I want to build a rack for funnels out of PVC. So you just stick the funnel in it and they will drain into a bucket. Cheap, easy, and solves the problem of storing funnels and funnels dripping left over oils. I probably have a dozen or so different funnels but only use a few the most often. Just looking for pictures or ideas if you have done this before.

Most of the industrial chemical labs I've worked in or managed over the years have had drain/dry racks for labware like this over the sink. I've been thinking about putting one in my basement...

I don’t want funnels with oil residue attracting dust and causing contamination the next time it’s used.

If I can’t wash it right away I leave it next to my solvent tank to be washed and dried when time permits. They are then stored in a clean plastic pail with a lid.

I keep it to a minimum. I have a couple funnels I rarely use. If I can cut the bottom out of a qt oil jug, I rinse a funnel in the parts washer after use, I use squirt spouts on quarts, on trans fluid rarely need a funnel and can pour from a gallon to qt if I am careful and have a couple spout cans pour from pails in to.

I put my oily funnels in the drain pan of my under lift oil drain for a day or two to drain then I wipe them and stack them in an old cookie sheet. The cookie sheet is to catch any thing i may have missed.

I found that the tracks on my dozer is a great place to hang funnels. Slip them between the grousers and let them drip overnight followed by a quick wipe down with a shop towel and into a dedicated drawer until the next use. Then again not everyone has a dozer.

I have a picture somewhere here at GJ, hosted on PB so it basically doesn't exist. Here's a new picture.

A piece of flat stock, bent, drilled and screwed to the wall. A piece of 1/4" all thread runs vertical to hold the funnels. The oil/fluid runs down the all thread through the flat stock and drips into the waste oil barrel.

Simple project that took longer for the paint to dry than it did to make it.

The good thing about simple is a guy isnt so invested he will make a change if something better comes along.

If it's expensive it's tempting to dig in and keep using something where needs/space changes. This was a drain deal for a bud.
