Very good people to do business with...

So far, so good...

I order all my GearWrench stuff from them, along with other misc. stuff. By far cheapest place to get KD Tools / GW stuff even paying shipping. Only downside is you'll sometimes have to wait a few days for your stuff to ship if its not in stock.

And I guess their online order tracking isn't amazing, so sometimes you'll just have to wait for your stuff to show up when it shows up. They say it's because it's shipping direct from distributors and you'd have to call them to get tracking numbers.

I have ordered from them several times. Base pricing is usually one of the lowest but delivery can take weeks sometimes. Then I have to pay state sales tax as they are in my state (Minnesota).

I have ordered some Wright stuff from them. The Wright stuff was backordered and there did not seem to be good communication between Wright, Tool Discounter and me. Sometimes it appears Tool Discounter may be ordering some products from a third party.

One thing I do not like is they do not have the manufacturer ship direct to the customer. Everything gets shipped from the manufacturer to Tool Discounter and then to the customer. When I order SK from Tooltopia, Williams from Industrial Supply Denver or Klein from Ace Hardware the stuff is always shipped directly from the manufacturer to me.

Customer service has been good. A call to the 800 number is always answered by a live person.

Haven't ordered from them yet but I definitely will. When I was looking to buy my first set of gearwrenches they were the cheapest by far. I ended up getting the ones sears had on sale though.

new gearwrench stuff is actually cheaper on ebay, and their website was designed by the people who brought you the Zoro website, apparently!

UP date I am placing my 1st order with Tool Discounter today. We will see when and from where it comes! Hope this is still a good website to order from as I am pulling the trigger on getting a 3/8 NITROCAT® 1355-XL twin hammer. Will let you know when it comes. Fingers crossed. Canceled order I I was going to save $10 on it from them instead ordering from Tool Topia I have placed several orders through them and no problems. I will loose an extra 19 dollars in shipping not really worth it.

I ordered a Mity Vac from them a few months ago and had no complaints. It arrived exactly as described in a reasonable amount of time.

Also purchased gearwrench stuff from them. Best prices around on gw. They're legit if that's what you're worried about.

Ordered from them multiple times, last time had a slight billing issue (free shipping not applied over $100 threshold) Issue however was solved the next day with a phone call lasting only a few minutes.

They charge your credit card when you place your order on their web site regardless of whether they have stock or can fill your order.

I placed an order at their web site for two Armstrong wrench sets at very low prices, total with shipping $421.00. I just received an email that my order was canceled as the items are no longer available. Now I have to watch my credit card to make sure I receive the refund.

tooldiscounter.com may be a legit company but from this and other threads it's clear their web site is a hot mess and their sales process a total shambles.

Brogmi,

Those wouldn't happen to be the Armstrong Extra Long Combination Wrench sets, part numbers 25-675 and 52-671 ?

I have my eye on those but was wondering if they were all gone.

Different wrench sets.

For the two sets you're looking for, tooldiscounter.com shows both "available for order" but the Armstrong web site shows both out of stock.

So we're in the same boat, you won't be getting yours either. Don't bother placing an order.

My experience has been if it's something I need right away, it's a good idea to call ahead and see if they actually have it before ordering. Several times, something listed as "in stock" was not and it went on backorder. One time I changed my order (which was easy enough) and the other time I waited until I got it. When they had what I needed on hand, I got it in very short order. They have good prices and decent customer service, so I still buy from them occasionally.

I ordered a complete set of GW sockets (1/4, 3/8, and 1/2") from them. Arrived as ordered in a short period of time. Best price I could find on them, with the 1/4" set being free with the 3/8" set.

I've bought stuff before and they are "local" to me. No big issues. Communication is the only issue at times.

Have placed several orders with them. I agree shipping is lackluster but the prices are always a tad cheaper than Tooltopia or Amazon. I am guessing they must have a huge account with Gearwrench because they populate the **** out of my email box with Gearwrench deals.

I ordered two items from them a couple of weeks ago and the box arrived with only one. Sent them an email asking about it but they never responded; I ended up putting in a partial dispute with my credit card company for the price of the missing item + additional shipping charge for it.

I had a good experience ordering gearwrench socket sets from them. I'd buy something from them again.

Two orders since November 2018, both shipped in a reasonable time and product was as expected.

I had the same question, as they often show the best prices. I started checking reviews and they are mostly bad. What appears to be too good to be true, generally is. I chose to not take a chance but as they say, your results may vary.

I've never had issue with them nor customer service. I guess everyone has different experiences. I hear the same about hk guns. Some people say customer service will bend over backwards for them, others say they won't even reply back.

Extended delivery is usually on the manufacturer as some stuff ships direct. If it says not in stock I would call or email first. They have always answered when I have called. I have been using them for roughly 10 years and I have no complaints.

I've found OTC to be the worst for that. I think I've waited 2-6 weeks for every specialty tool I've ordered that was drop shipped.

Are they at least honest about whether an item is actually in stock and ready to ship?

It's been a while since I last ordered from them, but I think they were. If I called and confirmed something was in stock, it shipped fairly quickly.

I ordered 2 Gearwrench socket sets from them last year and after not shipping for 2 weeks I decided to call them. They shipped out a day or 2 later but sometimes you have to call and buzz them or they may forget about your order. The "Order Status" tracker on their website is useless too, but they had the lowest prices on what I was buying. I'd buy again just as long as I didn't need the tools that month.

Steer clear of tooldiscounter.com

It took them 3 weeks to ship an "in stock" item. I contacted them twice via e mail and they never responded to either. I will never purchase from them again.

The first and last time I placed an order with them the website said "in Stock" Found out a few days later it was not in stock and had to be shipped from the manufacturer with a possible 2 week delay. Card was charged also.

I had the same experience recently from a boat parts supplier. Apparently "in Stock" now means "in Stock at the distributor's warehouse or manufacturer". I no longer rely on the "in Stock" claim.

Yeah, my last order took a couple of weeks. At first I was frustrated, but then I realized Amazon just has me spoiled.

Interesting site. Looked up Bosch tools there to see if they had drills, grinders, routers, etc. for cheap, but it's all industrial tools like tire changers. Didn't know Bosch even made that stuff.

I've only bought one item from them, and had the same experience re: "in stock" which really meant drop shipped. After one week, I called them, and apparently they nudged the manufacturer because it showed up a few days later. The item was an Associated Equipment 9425 battery charger. They had the best price I found after considerable shopping around. Well worth the wait, though, and the price was good.
