I couldn't tell you what brand but it resembles a lot of drill presses made in Taiwan sold under a variety of names. If its cheap enough, they aren't terrible. Not high precision machines ie. some runout. That looks to have been well cared for though.

I have one that looks the same. Dad got it many years ago out of the Montgomery Ward catalog.

Brand on mine is ToolKraft and model is 4413.

Works well enough to keep me from buying a better one.

If it helps, there's an address on the nameplate of mine: 250 South Rd., Enfield, CT 06082

I have one of those generic older Taiwan ones it has three pulleys and it has little runout and is decent if you get it for a good price. Might take a funky chuck key but it’s not a bad machine

Our shop has a similar one. Haven't used in probably 10 years if not more. More for a home setting. I can drill easier and faster on my Acer or Willis bed mill.

This ^^

How much?
Looks a lot like mine and mine is a good drill press. Not machinist level but I feel like mine is better than anything I could buy today at the normal retailers.

It's made in Taiwan (1993). I drill a lot pin holes in steel making knives, does 500 rpm seem slow enough?

What would be a good price?

500rpm should be plenty slow for drilling relatively shallow holes up to 1/2” diameter in mild steel. You could up the speed for smaller holes 5/16 or less.

Hard to say what a good price is. Depends on your region. I probably wouldn’t pay more than $100.

Looks exactly like the Packard Precision press that my dad bought in 82. I got it from their house a week ago and am in the process of restoring it. It may not be the best drill press to restore, but it worked for my dad for 37 years.

I've got a Duracraft (if I remember correctly) that was made in Taiwan that I purchased back in the early 80's. Sometime during a move the quill got bent, and it lost a degree of accuracy. Had it not been for that I'd still be using it. I bought mine at an Ace Hardware store if that matters:)

I have one branded Continental Machinery. But I have 3 pulleys for a wider range of speeds. The importer is long gone but was the brother of a guy I worked with. The only one he had in stock was 3 phase so he pulled the motor without fully uncrating it and replaced with a 1hp Baldor. That is the best thing on the press. One of the pulleys was bored so cockeyed that a machinist friend rebored it so I could sleeve it back to size. I have a shim in the table tilt adjustment to square it front to back..After that it has been a pretty good press. It has a 5/8 chuck that is OK and a pretty long stroke. Avoid a press with a short stroke. It will drive you nuts.
