Looking for a heavy duty engine stand for a 24v cummins and came across this used one. Wondering if anyone recognizes it so I can verify the weight rating.

Looks home built to me. I would think you could check it over for cracks and also check the welds. If you find no issues, looks like it should hold an engine, to me anyway.

Fwiw, the guy selling it says it was bought, not built.

For the price you are probably paying, get it and weld supports on it if you think you need to. Looks pretty strong as-is, but strategically placed gussets can really beef it up.

The older otc models had front wheels that were sandwich between the metal, kinda like a bicycle fork. Think this one is imported, the removal arms for shipping. Maybe sunex, looks good and guessing the price is right. Can of paint would change the appearance. Older American brands likely would have a model plate riveted on.

I noticed that as well. The wheels on the OTCs are typically recessed into the square tube.

The one I posted also appears to have a brace of some sort that used to run between the two legs. If you look at the second pic, there are two empty bolt holes on each leg.

It does look fairly homemade. In my area it would be $10-15 as it appears, if everything works well. Free if not.

I don't understand the head on that at all.
Looks like someone removed the fingers & made an adapter for something else?
yeah, the head that's bolted on looks homemade and for a very specific use. I'd need to build something else to make it work.

I made my own heavy duty engine stand and it's worth every penny. That one isn't as built heavy as mine but it'll have no problem with a 5.9 Cummins. Go buy it and build an adapter plate. Rebuilding engines on my stand makes it a very easy job.

On the larger diesel engine stands the motor is mounted sideways. OTC is a bare plate that you bolt adapter plates to for different engines to mount. That doesn't look like an OTC head but the theory is still the same.

Even easier if you make a motor with gear reduction setup on it!

Mine is made out of a combine final drive and a worm gear box. It's about 300 to one which is 3x more than I need. Lots of cranking until added a nut so I can spill it with a drill or impact.
