Anyone recognize this water shutoff stem?

Need to replace the stem and I bought a universal stem repair kit, but the original stem threads are 0.608" diameter while the universal stem threads are 0.613" in diameter. Won't even go in 1 full turn, so I guess I have to find the exact match. Anyone recognize this particular stem? No name on faucet.

Pretty sure Home Depot has a book hanging where the stems are that has pictures and dimensions so you can match your old stem to a replacement. There are so many different types I cant imagine a "universal" one.

Take it to the counter of a real plumbing supply store.

Change the rubber washer on the end and stick it back in.

Normally I'd agree with the plumbing shop advice but I'm not sure in this case. The original looks like a lower quality unit. I'm not sure if the plumbing shops would have a direct replacement.
Replacing the washer might get you by for awhile. How is the seat? Those start to corrode - wear with long term leaking. I see marks on the stem that look fairly deep. Replace the compression washer if you want to reuse the stem. I'd tighten the cap in steps to wear in the compression washer.

How hard would it be to replace the whole faucet assembly? I get tired of fixing poorly made faucets and usually just replace them.

I'd agree. I have had good luck with them. I quit trying to repair the cheap faucets. I just replace them with good faucets and go on with life.

One item of caution. There are some that appear to be branded but are knock offs. I've run into the issue a couple of times. They look the same but the components are junk. Standard cartridges didn't even fit.
