I saw a homemade bender a while back. I think it was on youtube but I can't find it now. What it was is someone took a bar then drilled a couple of holes in it and welded a couple of nuts where the holes were. Then they took some bearings and slid them over a bolt and then bolted the two bolts to the bar. There was enough room between the two bearings that a piece of metal would slide through the space. The way you would bend it you would slide it back and forth and press up, After a few passes the metal was bent about 1 inch and to a 90 degree angle.

I was thinking about making one as I need to bend a long piece of metal but my bender is not wide enough. Does this sound familiar and does anyone have a link to one being made?

I searched again and found this one on homemade tools website. It has a video below on youtube. The one I saw didn't have the small handle but a long bar. The fellow would run it and press the bar up and he was able to bend a 90 degree bend with a lip about a inch. I have some steel from a factory that made steel doors. The steel is thinker than roofing tin,but no much. I want to bend two sides that are 8 foot long but by bender is only about 4 feet. Here is the video. I might can make it similar to this.

Found this in the suggestions from the video you posted, looks more like what you described. If the link doesn’t work, do a google search of “awesome sheet metal forming tools”

Thanks! I think that may be the one I saw. It looks likes the one I saw and I can make one like this.

Or you could just buy or make a sheetmetal folder.
Bend it part way, then slide it down further on the piece if needed.

Made this one yesterday. Prior I would just beat the steel, aluminum over dimensional lumber employing c clamps to keep things aligned. Been doing that for decades.2F5CCE3D-760A-4D44-8F9C-BAEA1CB99805.jpegDB1C5D1A-0577-4811-BC78-C94E5C6C79BB.jpeg
This design is good for 5” sheet, strap and corner notched angle iron up to 1 3/4 wide and 3/16 thick.
Zero cost. Had the 1/4 angle, hinges, jack handle just laying around. Bends up to 90*.
Mounts in my heavy vice.
