I picked up two steel chests of drawers from an estate sale recently. Sanded down the backs and sides and repainted them.

They had Bausch & Lomb property tags on them, so I guessing they were for eye wear shops for the various lenses and frames.

Size 19" wide X 25" X 50" high, on caster wheels. Ball bearing drawer slides. One box has 8 3.5" drawers, other has 6 6.5" drawers. Tops are some sort of very hard rubber. Very sturdy units.

Anyone know anything about these? How old? Were they provided to optometrists by B + L?

Thanks

Bausch & Lomb may be mostly known for glasses, contact lenses, and eye care products, but they also manufacture magnifying glasses and other special magnifying equipment for industrial and professional use, microscopes, protective glasses, and other optical products.

They were probably originally made to store slides or film or cards of some sort. They made anything associated with lenses.
