I still use them.---I like the 2 ton, 2 speed scissor jacks.---One high gear for fast rise to the car body, and one low gear for almost effortless jacking.---They are very stable like a jack stand to, but I still utilize the jack stands.---I've heard of too many fellows taking chances, pushing the law of averages, and getting something mashed.---Just not worth it.

Often on my four poster for suspension work. So if I'm lifting the body with my RJ45 and the suspension is at full extension and I need to raise it for some reason they come in very handy. But that's the only time I use that style anymore.

I use one to push the duals off the tractor. The Jack has to lie on its side, most hydraulic jacks won't do that. I put the impact wrench on the scissor Jack and it pushes it off no problem.

I used one Tuesday. The wife got a flat on her way to work and it is her factory jack. Her car is so low I cant even use my floor jack on the factory lift point.

I use two scissor jacks to raise the back of my Chevy 3500 van, one under each end of the axle. I modified the jacks so I can use my 1/2" impact with a long extension to run the jack up and down. I put jack stands under the axle after raising it. This works better than my floor jack as I don't get much throw on the handle and it takes a lot of pumps to raise the vehicle.

I need to get one for my pickup. Can you get a brand and model of your jack? I Googled 2 speed scissor jacks and came up with nothing. Thanks.

Scissor jacks can be really handy for spreading slightly mis-bent roll bar legs into place etc. Basically I find them handy to perform certain duties that would probably be better served by a porta power but this is what I have at the moment.

Those things fold up and fall over too easy. Ive never had any other kind of jack structurally fail while under load. I think my Volvo is on its 3rd one.

Whats worse is the car version of a high lift jack. I had one of those drop the car when i was in my teens. It made a lifelong impression.

The car is so close to the ground with a flat tire, gotta have a jack that goes from 3.5" to 12"

Aside from that, tried to use scissor jacks to push a 4 foot high cinder block retaining wall back to vertical. (All the dirt was removed from the back side.)
Honda/Toyota jacks folded up/bent, but a Ford Explorer jack held up fine.

I use one as a gun rest. Another to lift my wheelchair to fix my front or rear wheels while I'm in the chair.

Impact on scissor jack will damage the thread.
Had to toss my Volvo jack after doing that a few times.
Better to use a strong drill.

Any info about these jacks or similar ones?

I only use the one that came with the car once to change the tyre on the road.

I use normal jack at home and support car on stands with additional support by tyre and wood blocks, just in case!

Here's the last two I bought off EBay.---These are vintage, heavy duty, and some are army surplus.---Those that come with vehicles today as standard equipment, I would throw in the scrap pile.---Of course these came with a vehicle to, but were made back when they were actually making real tools.

I have five of these, and like McFarmer said, you can use them to jack sideways with 2 ton pressure.---I got every one of mine off EBay.---It's the only place I have found them.---I don't actually need five but every time I found one on EBay for cheap, I bought it.---Can't never tell when I'll need to make a 4 point jacking on a small building or something.

Check the link.---This is the last two I bought.---Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the jacks.

I use one any time I pull a Subaru engine, which I hope to be doing less of next year! I use a scissor jack to hold up the transmission. And if it takes me a while to finish the job it doesn't creep back down. Everything will be just where I need it to be when the engine goes back in.
