I have the m18 3/8 and have been somewhat disappointed with it. It is a quality tool but not as strong as I thought it'd be. I notice that the Fuel is supposed to be 200lb/ft vs 165.

Anyone tried the Fuel or, even better, compared them?

I have the 3/8 fuel with the 4.0 battery(18V). I'm happy with it so far. My will undo fasteners that I have torque to 100ftlbs. It won't handle much more than that. Couple guys @ work have SO 14.4, there about the same. I know there less V's, but the price is a lot more. My tools & boxes are SO. Figured try something else, warranty seems better. Only time will tell if it lasts.

sorry to thread-jack but how about the milwaukee 9070-20 corded 1/2" impact? i've been wanting to pick up an impact for a long long time and this one has caught my eye. not sure if i want to go with that, or the dewalt DW292. the dewalt sounds better on specs alone but i haven't had a chance to actually hold one in my hand like i have the milwaukee... does anyone have any experiences to report?

I love mine! I use it every chance I get. It easily does the lug nuts on my 1-ton trucks...

Good to know. The one I have now doesn't come close to that level of power.

the only thing i can compare my 3/8" dr fuel to is a bluepoint 14.4v i've used for many years.

the fuel is approx the same size, feels slightly heavier (18v li-ion vs 14.4v ni cad)

battery is more compact

milwaukee has tons more power, i typically run it on it's middle power setting

it has a nice little metal hanging hook on the side, hangs perfectly on the lip of my toolbox in my service truck

altho it's not constantly being used, but it's used several times a day,
the 1st fully charged battery, is on it's 3rd week, and still showing half charged.

so far i'm impressed enough, i'm considering adding the fuel drill.

no battery powered tool has made me want to buy addtional tools.

So far this all sounds good to me, I would love one of these for underhood-work and light duty jobs. I think it'll be a perfect fit. I really like the 3-Mode power control over the competitors.

I got mine about a month ago with the compact batteries from Home Depot. Paid less than 250.00 out the door. It is a great tool. I just got some fullsize batteries and with the fullsize batteries it really rocks! Smaller footprint with compact batteries is easier to use under the hood.

It will take off the 100lb lugnuts off with ease.

My buddy swears the snap on 18v 3/8 is stronger but I haven't used it. I'm perfectly happy with it. I can't wait till the 1/2" comes out as I can use my batts with both.

Is there a projected price for the big boy1/2" fuel impact? I like the compact 1/2 but this one has some serious torque. I still plan on getting the 1/4 fuel impact driver.

I have the 3/8th fuel and love it. I have not tried to use it for lug nuts but everything else I have tried it with it broke loose within reason.

The little 3/8's cordless impacts have their place...they aren't meant to do lug nuts all day, some will pull properly torqued ones but it's a struggle. Use the pneumatic impact for the lugs, use the cordless impact for under hood work.

I love mine I can say the power is awsome the only things it hasnt taken off is some exhuast nuts and some rusty shock bolts. It has great power just wont take off anything thats been rusted in place for many years. Ill have to try taking some lugs off a bigger truck. 200flbs I dont think so ill put it up to the rest let u guys no some results

Going to agree with this. Save the lugs for the fuel 1/2 high torque or air.

Agreed, I figured this^ should go without saying, but some people still amaze me when they expect the world from one single tool. I bet those same people would try to remove lugs with a 3/8" ratchet too :bitchslap

I'm ordering a 3/8 M18 Fuel tomorrow, thanks OP and everyone for the helpful insight

I scrapped an old Snap On truck Friday and used mine to rip off the (pre loosened) lug nuts when I got to the junkyard. They were 1" so probably 5/8" thread, and rusty. It did the job, but it was working hard just to overcome the rust.

I'm still happy with it, I didn't buy it to remove huge rusty fasteners.
