Those look really clean. How is the finish though? Basically how easy is it gonna be to wipe grease off of them?

Edit: Read the site and they say it has a "Durable" finish. I would stop by a local retailer and check them out in person. If there isn't one near you, call them up and ask for a small sample piece so you can inspect the quality of the wood and finish.

Any idea on the cost? Didn't see anything on their site, I guess I could call the MD dealer, but good luck getting a price w/o setting up a consult, blahblahblah.

They look nice though, just have to see if they are stout enough for garage duty.

If you google the name with prices it will come up, there are alittle on the expensive side, compared to California Closets, but again maybe they are worth the extra bucks.

I sent them an email, as they didn't talk about thickness of shelves, etc.

On thier home page the section that says "Dealers in your area" and click on California. The first dealer is A1 Garage Makeover and they have a link to thier website which has some prices. There might be others too in your local area with prices.

I might go up to Sacramento in a couple weeks, maybe I'll see if they have a showroom or something.

They look good, but I don't think they'll take much wieght.

I have them in my house garage. I put them together myself (I didn't have their distributor do it).

No - They aren't cheap - but they are VERY well made and the fit/finish is top notch.

Some sample prices.....
P246824 $219.99
S482424 $139.99
S483424 $214.99

I could have sworn I had a pic or two of the garage with the cabinets installed.

The best I can do tonight is showing the pallet they came on.

(Yeah - I know.... I'll try to get a couple of 'real' pics tomorrow....)

Oh - And they can take a ton of weight... IMO anyway....

I'll try tomorrow (Sunday). Right now the cars are tucked away in the garage blocking the views.

Edit-
Sunday didn't work out... I'll try Monday and go from there.

Edit again....

Here are three pics. I have three 'stacks' similar to this one. (Sorry for the mess - I'm still messing around with the 'shop' and boxes are all over the place).

First pic is of the general configuration.
Second pic is where one cabinet is on the bottom and two on top.
Third pic is one cab on top and two underneath.

As you can see - The seams are tight between the units.
There are holes drilled in the top and bottom edges for dowles to slide in to keep things aligned. Having the base cabinets level and straight helps also.

Yes - The finish is very 'cleanable' for lack of a better way to say it. Not porous at all and (seems) resistant to impacts or scratches as well. Kind of like a thin formica.

Hope this answers your questions... Let me

Yes - They screw into the studs.

The scheme they have designed for their installation I was not confortable with...
They have 'feet' about 6" high that fit in holes in the bottom panel
There are 'supposed' be only two feet on the bottom near corners by the doors. The cabinet backs are then screwed into the wall studs to keep them from 'falling down' as such.

Well....
As each cabinet comes with two feet (regardless of actually needing them) - I just installed a third foot in the middle but against the rear side so the cabinet was stable on the floor on its own weight. You can adjust the feet to account for variation in the floor surface. Once that is there - I then screwed the rear to the wall as you would do under their scheme.

I have them in my house garage (as pictured above) and plan on putting them in 25'x25' shop when I get it to the stage of installing cabinets.

Whatever century that ends up being....

I wanted to bring this back up and see if anyone has more experience with using them in a medium duty environment. I know they work very well for standard storage, like the pantry/kitchen type of setting, but what about garage/shop?

I got the material samples today, they are pretty nice, but i was told they use plastic shelf mounts.

I'm thinking I can just reinforce everything with L brackets and braces under each shelf. Cheap, easy and effective. Can even add on some fancy door handles to jazz it up a bit ;)

Yep, they do use a pliable plastic shelf bracket. Personally, I have never had a problem with them. Forget the "L" brackets till ya need them.

I love these cabinets after 2 years, no regrets whatsoever.
They clean up nice and resist any grime.

PS: I see that this is an older post but the question is still relevant.

I saw some in a local garage specialty shop last week. They seemed heavy duty enough and they were a little more money than the Ultimate system. IIRC they were stackable. I wasn't interested in their finish selections though.

Mine are the Maple finish... not exactly what I wanted at the time
but they were better than the plain White.
I have a few of them... will post a pic tomorrow.

I have two Ulitmate cabinets, don't think much of them. Ya, they work ok for the way that they are being used but, they aren't nearly as durable in my opinion.

Don't bother Screwing Them.

Alistair,

They are supposed to be screwed to wall studs but you don't have to.
If you look at the photos I posted in #19 you'll see that. None
of the cabinets pictured are screwed to the wall.

Knowing that we were going to move in several months I didn't want to attach them to the wall and have to leave them behind as part of the Realty agreement.
Instead, I ordered additional legs and feet and mounted them towards the rear of the cabinets. They were very inexpensive, actually, the dealer gave them to me.
This worked out very well for this application.

PS: Upper mounted (un-supported) wall cabinets are another story.

I would like to turn one of my wall with "slatwall"; anyone know how much are the slatwall?

I prefer the PVC types like the Gladiator Gearwall but they're expensive @ $6/sq-ft. Are there any brand out there that's $3/sq-ft?
