Ok, I should have told the truth. I dont work out, but my wife does. I just built a 30x40 work shop. She wants to put the equipment in my 30x40. Not happening so im setting it up in the garage for her!

for flooring go to tsc and get the 4x6 horse stall mats... they are heavy and won't move around on you, i used them in my workout room in the basement, mine had a strong smell but it has gone away over the last year... in the garage they'll be awesome

with a garage door you can open it and pull some stuff outside in the summer months then roll it back in. buy a cheap tv and ceiling or wall mount it so you can see it from outside

as far as equipment goes that depends on what you want to do... craigslist is a good place to find used stuff

put some mirrors on the wall too, go to home depot or lowes and get the big frameless bathroom mirror(s)

concrete is cold and not a great surface for any workout routines. The vendors here all have an athletic or PT flooring product and many are very competitive - price wise and health wise for your wife/family.

Others have built raised and insulated space and placed hardwood on top of that...real hardwood, not laminate...to solve the cold and the bounce, or lack there of.

Heat and AC will likely be a need for the workout space..as well as mirrors if there is any step or pilates and the like.

My whole garage is a workout space. I go out there to work out where that part goes, why that's broken , and where I left that other thing.[/QUOTE

Really! Tote a rear end, wrestle a transmission, up and down the ladder, crawl around looking for stuff, Creeper sit-ups, Tool box tote, tire rotation twisties, tough nut tuggin', oil can curls, snag a tool sprints, tow chain dragging, Stacking and unstacking lumber, bar stock or cinder blocks.

Let's do some sweeping, sanding, painting!

I do have about a dozen interlocking exercise mats. Does that count as an exercise space?
