Hi all.

Anyone use a tool vest here? What do you like and dislike about them.

Looking to carry more tools on me. Vest one option.

Back in the 90’s, my boss had a fly fishing vest.

He altered it to hold all his finish carpentry tools.

Hell, he even sowed in a pocket for a Walkman!

I seriously thought about doing that 30 years ago. My back was so jacked up I couldn’t wear my tool belt anymore and tool belts and those bucket bags were a pain to crawl into attic and hatch openings with. I sometimes had to carry large heavy ballasts a transformers so the hands free and slim profile seemed a good option but never tried it.

I absolutely Hated having to wear safety vests at work. Always catching on ****. Hot in summer. Just a PITA.

Tool vest is a no go for me unless I was no where near anything to get caught on

I bought a Bucket Boss a couple of years ago for general in-shop work. Wear it on occasion, but it has not been as useful as I had hoped. I generally wear it when I have a more involved project in the house that I need to bring in tools from the garage. The hanging nail pockets are just in the way so unsnapped and removed them. When wearing it I still found that I laid tools out on tables and work surfaces rather than tuck in a pocket. There is no secure place for a square, or chisels, and so forth. Despise the fabric hammer loop (prefer metal loop). Simply easier to lay the tools on the work surface. If I really feel the need to have tools on me, I use a tool belt with a single bag for a tape measure, pencils, utility knife, hammer loop.

When I think tool vest, I think Samurai Carpenter. Hes out your way. I think he made his own vest? Might have even offered it for sale at one time. For his use, as a carpenter on a jobsite, it sort of makes sense.
