Hey all,
I just posted this under the new guy thread but not sure it will show
up in the general discussion so going to post it again. Anyone ever
use a moisture/exhaust vent call a "wizzvent" ? Supposed to control
moisture, prevent rust, etc and looks good but maybe too good to be
true. Their website is- www.wizzvent.com - if you've never seen it.
Trying to protect my car from rust and moisture in a very small
garage I built out under my house in the carport area - Home is on
stilts as live on the coast so no typical garages here. The one I built
is only 8 x 14, just big enough for the car which I have to roll out to
work on. Trying to protect it from the salt air, moisture, etc. Thought
about using a dehumidifier, heavy duty bathroom type exhaust fan, etc.
Anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Mike:dunno:

Looks like a fan controlled by a humidistat to bring outside air in. I don't get it. Living by the ocean, I don't think you want to bring outside air inside. jmo.

Or maybe it's just a vent for the room where you take a wizz ......... often a good idea.

That was my initial thinking when I saw the name.

Living by the coast, might as well get you another car, store it in a climate controlled garage 50 miles inland, and resign yourself to the fact that the one you keep at home will become a rust bucket.

That is so friggin' stupid. You can get a regular fan and a humidistat at Home depot for like $50. Not that it will cure your moisture problem anyway....

Decent bathroom exhaust fan is going to be $200 ish and the Humidistat is $25.... so that doesn't seem to bad if the fan isn't loud and flows well.

Above is the setup I have in my house. If the humidity gets too high, the bathroom fan in the front bath kicks on. Granted it's not something that will work when it's humid out, but the primary purpose is for winter.

No need for a $200 bathroom fan in the shop. That pissvent thingy uses a fan more like this:

Or this:

Get one of those vinyl floor mats that everybody sells, and put that on the floor. Then get a small dehumidifier.

Ditto on the dehumidifier. Just get the dehumidifier and run the hose outside or to a drain if you don't want to empty the bucket daily. The Whizzvent only cost pennies a day to operate, but the first time you open the garage door you pissed away all of those pennies. Someone has taken a bathroom vent and come up with a old concept and just renamed it as something for a garage.

I want my click back! I was expecting a new way to make a *piss pipe* funnel with an attached hose going out through a small hole in the bottom of the garage wall in the back corner.
