Anyone use magnetic lables on your toolbox? Pics?

Anyone use them? Pics? Where'd you get them? I saw them at Sears today, but to be honest the font turned me off, it looked a bit gay for the garage.

You can make your own by buying a roll of the magnetic tape from Wal-Mart (check craft section) and then just using a simple labelmaker. Affix label to the magnetic tape, cut to size and there you go - pick whatever font your labelmaker supports

Because I'm OCD about organization and like the idea. It's better than my hand writing on some tape. I know the general place everything is but doesn't stop me from opening 2 or 3 drawers to figure out where things are.

I am the same way. I use the magnetic labels for that reason and I just got a new box so I'm trying to reorganize. I have the Sears labels and think they are great. They also have blank ones in the package to put your own labels if necessary

Yeah the sears ones are made by Gopher... don't like that font. Found these... think I'm going to get the motorsports w/ the c-man font. I prefer the Snap-on font, but the c-man font looks larger and easier to read.

Went ahead and bought them (motorsports w/ the c-man lettering). Another good thing about the magnets are that they should stick over all the stickers on my toolboxes.

Here's a possibility. I made a couple of sheets but haven't had the inspiration to do the rest of my newer cabinets. Choose your own design and font. You should be able to find some clip art and put pics on there too.

Staples and other office supply places sell inkjet magnetic sheets.

You design your own labels with your font and even photos or shop logos and stick them where you want. Also handy for making custom warning labels for certain tools.

You can get as organized as you want with the colors and font you want. The label is white but that does not prevent you from printing a colored background.

ou could go to any sign shop and buy vehicle magnetic material. Usually they go on the doors of trucks wityh signage on them.

However, Buy a few feet and cut it into little rectangles (or whatever your heart desires).

You could even have the sign company make the decals to go on the magnetic sheets.

Another option with a real personal touch is a printable magnetic sheet (inkjet or laser) from a craft or office supply store. Add a self adhesive laminating sheet (comes in real handy around the shop/house) to protect the printing.

The inkjet setup is ideal... I'll have to look into that if I need more labels.

I got the craftsman ones they are ok. I personally know where everything in the toolbox is. But sometimes if I am laying on my back and have someone helping me. Its easier to say go to the drawer labeled " Pliers" instead of go to the top box 2nd drawer from the bottom.

I just printed them onto adhesive backed paper. I don't change tool drawer organization schemes so often that I need magnets.

(Actually, I had the set of the magnets, and those pictures were kind of useless for me.)

I use them mainly for when I ask somebody to get something out of my box, while I'm under the car on the ground.

I know where everything is in the toolbox, but when I ask my wife to get a screwdriver for me, or we're working on a buddies car and he needs to grab a 9/16th or 14mm socket, or...all I have to say is "Read the labels" instead of "They're in the top left hand drawer. No, not that one, your other left."

Labels aren't for me, they are for others.

I don't get enough help for me to worry about anybody knowing where tools are.

I use what are called Magnetic Label Holders from an office supply store.

They can be cut to length. You just slide in a narrow strip of paper with the description. Could have the paper written by hand or printed.

Both of our local phone books put magnets on the front of the new books each year. I grab them all. Most people don't want the magnets (generally advertising for local carpet cleaners or whatever) and are happy to give them to you, too. FREE magnetic sheets, plenty big enough for several drawer labels per. Then I just print up adhesive address labels on the home computer and stick them to the free magnetic material, covering up whatever is underneath.

Tool box labels...I'm conflicted about this.

I always thought it was the coolest thing when my Dad would tell me "Go to the tall red tool box, bottom drawer, top box and grab the yellow handled pliers"

As an engraver, I made some engraved ones out of scrap and then attach them with magnetic tape. At one time, I considered offering them for sale - like a certain number of stock ones + 5 custom ones for a certain price. I just don't have time to mess with it.

I can never remember if it's drawer 2 or 3 that is wrenches or screwdrivers, but there's only 8 drawers on that side so I get there quick enough.
