Norandex has so many grades that it's hard to say without investigation. It think that's what I used on our last house. Looks great 6 years later in a medium gray color. They are one of the big guys and make some great products.

it is their second from the bottom grade siding (.042). Ask for a quote for a thicker siding (.046) it will take impact better and be less likely to crack when hit with stones or a hard ball.

My neighbor is getting it right now, with 3/4"? polystyrene board backer. It feels much sturdier than more common vinyl siding varieties. The only thing I don't like is that it has a strange satin, almost semi-gloss level of sheen to it, at least the variety I have seen.

I would personally question whether the price difference between it and hardie board is that significant, but I would choose it over plain old vinyl siding..

Thanks for the information. I was not looking at doing the insulated siding. Just the regular. I will have 2 x 6 walls that are going to be insulated. Also being in Virginia we don’t have super extremes

I used to do some construction and used norandex many times.its a good company.... all siding will fade. As long as u dont have to replace any u will never know. If u have kids that can damage the siding look at going thicker but 042 will work fine

Good call out. I do have kids (9,9,6) but I have 2 acres and the garage is in the far corner of the yard. There should be no reason for them to hit it with anything (ha ha!) but I will look into the next one up which is .044. The next level after that is .046, but it is only offered in a 4" and we want 5" clapboard....
