Anyone use this for their shop??

Learned about Mitchell1 yesterday in auto class, just was wondering if anyone uses it for their shop and how do you like it?

I use the Mitchell version that Snap on sells called "ondemand5" but it's the same thing.

Check out "Alldata" if you haven't yet. I prefer Alldata's wiring diagrams. I would probably have both if I opened my own shop though.

He also showed up other sites that I thought was pretty cool. They were sites you can get estimates and so much more.....

I use Mitchell1 at work. It has almost all the data you'll need. But finding it can be frustrating, and a lot of it is copied from manufacturer's factory service manuals with a little bit lost in paraphrasing.

Mitchel is like pulling teeth. The wiring diagrams rock but thats about it. Alldata is far better in the repair info department.

I prefer Alldata when I get a chance to "borrow" wiring and tech data tools from my buddy's shop... but he has both. I can certainly agree that on a daily basis, alldata would be seemingly much faster.

What other programs did they show you?

We use all data and mitchell at school. I prefer all data but we use mitchell for writing estimates etc.

I use something like that through snap on for heavy duty trucks called shop key. But as stated before it is frustrating as hel to use. Its mostly all there just trying to find it.

The other dealer I worked at used all data, I don't like it very much.where I'm at now we use snap on shop key for non ford stuff. It's full of useful information, but can be agitating when you're used to using oem sites and are looking for important diagnostic or module information on super advanced vehicles like new audis or bmws. The estimate feature is very useful, use it to make sure writers aren't shorting you or hate to see how bad warranty times are compared to customer pay. Either way its very useful and I get on it several times a day.

we have shopkeypro and identifix.com at work. identifix just added lots of OEM infomation direct from the dealer manuals. Identifix is really nice as you can search for common problems and post problems . it is expensive but im not the one paying for it so its a plus.

In school I used alldata, in the field mitchell. Mitchell was really frustrating untill a coworker showed me how to navigate the site. Identafix is a great program, I'm impressed with how much info is on there nowdays.

My dad's shop uses ProDemand by Mitchell.

Have you guys that use Mitchell upgraded to ProDemand? IMO, it's much easier to use than the previous OnDemand5. I have never used AllData.

I have access to alldata at work. It comes in quite handy on alot of stuff.

we have alldata at work and is great until certain vehicles and certain parts they dont list labor times witch ***** or it stops working and wont let me back in witch is about wonce a week... otherwise its the Ford site for Ford, lincoln, or mercury repairs. (dealership). and shopkey when i was in school was O.K some of there wiring diagrams were better but still prefer alldata over Ford or shopkey.

I've used both I like all data the best. I use si 2000 and ford installer support the most though(Oem sites) bbb industries has pretty good selection of free wiring diagrams also

We have mitchel/on demand and Identafix. I like mitchels wiring diagrams and torque specs, but identafix is great for locating common failures, tsbs, component locations, as well as testing procedures. They are also making efforts to upgrade their wiring diagrams and I am starting to see some factory repair manuals/procedures for newer vehicles.

We use Mitchel/OnDemand5 at work. Its ok til you look up stuff for european cars, then it reads like poorly translated instructions from a chinese product.lol What little I have used alldata, I like it better. Have heard identifix is good, never used it.

I use Alldata all the time but have a buddy (Snap-on guy) that is trying to get me to switch to theirs which is Mitchel. After reading the comments here, I think I will stick with Alldata.

We use all data most of the time but also identifix that is great for tabs and common issues with specific vehicles

identifix is becoming a glorified internet forum where so called techs go to try and diagnose via the net. When I think about how many people are taking their cars into shops where someone just looks on identifix and sells something it makes me sick.

I must say I have found procedures and test on identifix that u could not find on all data where I do see what u mean as a lot of techs I have seen do not even test the parts as it happened last week another tech changed an 02 sensor for a heater circuit malfunction just because it said so were the whole problem was he blew a fuse on that heated 02 sensor
