I think the OP's fence looks good! I like Vynle fencing, and around here it is pretty popular. We do not get super cold or super hot temps, so it doesn't get that kind of damage. The rain and rot issues, plus termites, make vynle particularly attractive.

I am on LI and just had a fence installed after Sandy damaged the last one! (Floating debris)

I used a company LI Wholesale Fence and they were good both price and work wise. They filled the posts 3/4 with cement and it made a big difference. The previous company I used did not and the fence shook every time the gate shut. I used hte white vinyl.

I have had 85% of my fence for more than 5 years and the balance added weeks ago. Looks good, I pressure wash it 1 x per year along with the house and the green growth comes right off easily. No chemicals needed. Wish my house cleaned up that easily.

Would not do wook again. Too much maintenace (stain-pressure wash) and repair peices. it was never ending for me.

we're debating vinyl and wood. the fence needs to go up in the very near future. I like the idea of easy maintenance of the vinyl... many of our neighbors have had it up for years and it looks as good as the day installed, no color fade and no cracks. But the price of wood is very attractive... plus I kinda like the appearance of wood.

I wouldn't give $.10 for vinyl fencing. It looks nice, but if you have any winds at all, it will take it right out.

My son has a cedar board fence with 6'x8' panels. A couple of years ago 2 posts broke off at their concrete base, from wind load, after about 20 years.. I think the post were cedar also. Plus the original owner hung the 6'x40" gate on a 4x4, so it broke also. Replaced with PT. Gate post is now a 4x6.

Early spring this spring, 2 more posts broke off. Directly opposite the first ones. Those had to be over 25 years old. I guess we know which way the prevailing wind blows !

Yes, removing busted off wood fence posts set in concrete and left in SE MI clay for 25+ years, requires digging, ingenuity, 2x10s, leverage, water and a floor jack. Very little cussing and no back trauma.

The fence panels are still in pretty fair shape, but could use to be stained (low on my son's priority list).
