Anyone used ArmorGarage / ArmorPoxy?

I'm looking into buying a diy kit for my new garage, and am thinking about getting the Costco kit (EpoxyMaster) or ArmorGarage.

Anyone used ArmorGarage?

I'm studying all the options and the ArmorGarage site and their products look very good! I hope we get a reply. I'm right where you are between EpoxyMaster and now ArmorGarage and I'm leaning toward the latter. Their Armor Chip epoxy looks really good.

I feel better now that someone else is looking at the same options I am.

I am leaning towards armor chip, but now also wondering how that may compare cost and spec wise to the wolverine stuff a lot of people talk about on here...hope we get a response though.

Yep, I keep comparing epoxy-coat to armor garage to durall to Wolverine to epoxy master (or epoxy guard). Wolverine looks really good but also really expensive. It looks like it's about twice the cost of armor garage or epoxy coat. If it weren't for cost, I'd go for it in a heartbeat. But instead of getting nickel and dimed to death, it's more like 1 to 2 thousand dollared to death...and I know you all know what I mean!!!! the pex, then the boiler, then the ac, then the lift, then the great compressor, the insulation, the drywall.... Ach!!!

I'm right where you guys are. I just had my floor poured this week. It was redone after 8 years. The floor wasn't compacted properly the first time and settled 3 inches on one side. So now i'm trying to decide between Epoxy-coat, Epoxymaster, and Armorgarage. I won't have a lot of time after the 28 days of curing....the weather will be getting cooler and the garage isn't heated.

We used ArmorClad by Armorpoxy. OMG is was amazing. The thickest most incredible stuff ever seen. Kit was 100% complete and its not a water based system like Ucoatit (crappy, water-based and super expensive vs. thickness, many of my friends have it and its very thin). The Armorclad was also the least expensive vs the thickness you get. People were VERY nice and knowledgeable too.

Epoxy-Coat doesnt supply a topcoat and that's just b.s. Any garage floor must be topcoated. NO professional would sell a non topcoated floor. Epoxy Master is also a non-topcoated floor so thats NG also.

With all of the work to clean and prep the garage, a few extra bucks is well worth it. You get what you pay for.

I spent several weeks studing and reading myself cross-eyed on all the products from Rustoleum and Quikcrete to Wolveriene. I really liked Amorpoxy but decided on Epoxy-Coat who DOES now sell a clear with the kit. It is price better also. Epoxy-coat will also give you free shipping for members of Garage Journal. They will also send you free samples and has a rep on here to talk about the product. Wolveriene is top of the line stuff and has reps here too.

Also with epoxy-coat I wanted a two part top coat which they have. I think Armorclad has a one part top coat.

I don't think Epoxy-coat is priced better. It is $485 with the topcoat and ArmorClad is $449 and it covers 600 sq ft vs 500 for Epoxy-Coat.

But from what I remember the top clear coat that epoxy-coat has is a little better?? And epoxy-coat has free shipping.

I didn't realize that Epoxy-Coat had a clear kit. I've got a 460 sqft garage and I'm like you all - I can't decide what kit to go with! I do know that I want a clear coat on it so that leaves me with Wolverine, Epoxy-Coat (Clear Kit), and Armorclad. Pricing them out with shipping, Epoxy-Coat seems like the clear winner for me. (no pun intended)

Epoxy-coat never had a problem with the clear yellowing but their sister company Performance Epoxy did. That clear is a completely different product.

Ok, so original poster Pat and THammel, what did you guys ever decide on and go with? I'm hoping to hear you went with Armor Garage so you can tell me how it is!!! I have an 1800 sq ft garage/shop that I need to cover (the floor, of course) and I'm looking at the Armor Garage chip epoxy system. My ex-hubby built this beautiful 60x30 shop, it was his pride and joy, but now that he is gone, I'm turning it into a bakery, complete with pretty curtains and all! lol. hehe, thought I'd throw that in there to make all you guy's sick. lol.

Anyhow, for commercial kitchen certification, the floor has to be finished. Its very smooth concrete right now.

So please tell me what you used, how you like it, etc, etc, etc.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't done anything yet to the floor so can't help. I didn't get through to completing the inspection until 9/1/2010. since then I've completed the garage plumbing and now have to complete the electrical work (all my additions). Then I'll insulate and drywall. Epoxy will be last.

I have a 60 x 40 shop which I've finally gotten partially complete with the Armorgarage product. I've got to move 1/2 of the contents over on to the newly coated area then I will complete it.

As to Armorgarage - it is in a sense an affiliate of the Armorpoxy operation. In fact some of the cans of paint I received had the Armorpoxy label on it. Based upon the technical data sheets they are "private labelling" a product actually manufactured by National Polymers in PA. It is a good product - NP707 basecoat w/ options for topcoat - you can compare the tech data sheets on the National Polymers website (where you can learn about National Polymers private relabeling) to the Armorpoxy. Armorgarage will only provide this data if requested. Again it is a good product but you can probably get it cheaper. You might want to consider contacting Legacy Industrial on this board or website or take a look at Budget Bob's website and look at the pricing for the same coatings.

I just finished my 30 x 50 shop floor with Armor Garage UltraII. That is the thick coating, no flecks, same color topcoat. Everything as they said, prep instructions were accurate and floor looks great. Damaged it by dropping circular saw blade teeth down from 4 ft. Chiped concrete out so paint came too. Other than that, no problems at all. The websit says call for help anytime so of course I needed them on Memorial Day and they did not answer.

Re: Using concrete Primer before applying Armorclad?

I am leaning towards buying the Armorclad kit for completing my 2.5 Car garage. The floor is 2 years old but has never been painted. I live in Florida and the weather is humid. I am considering applying the concrete primer first for reasons given on the website of Arnorclad.

Question:

1: Would the primer reduce the bounding strength of Armorclad to my concrete?
2: I'd need to buy additional 1/2 kit to cover 750 sq ft, and with the use of primer, can I just use one kit, which covers 600 sq ft?

I appreciate any suggestions and ideas.

I would never try and get more coverage than what the kit calls for. The kit is designed to give you the appropriate Mil thickness.

Primer in any system I have ever used improves bonding and performance.

Most of us who sell epoxy and coatings have less than kit quantities for situations like this.

I just used ArmorGarage / ArmorPoxy
Here is my experience with the product!
The area i worked on is 650 basement floor.
Ordered product DRY BASEMENT EPOXY KIT (GRAY) and Primer for 850 SQF.
Application of product is not as easy as it may seem. Product does not level very nice and epoxy prone to have low spots. Once product is dry it's very slippery! Armor provide with anti-slip agent but this agent made no difference because they provide not enough of it. I called customer support and they said you must buy clear coat to fix the issue with beaning slippery. With low spots they told me i must buy more epoxy $ to fix the issue. The epoxy spots must be sanded and reapplied. That means more time and money is invested. I personally feel that Armor Garage on purpose is giving less anti slip product so you end up buying more stuff from them to fix issues. Not impressed with application of it.

I've used the same stuff, twice now. I don't know if it is the same thing the OP is asking about though.

Used it in my last house in CO with no problems both in the application and the usage. The only issue I had was where it was exposed to sunlight. I painted the slab which extended outside the door, it wasn't till afterwards that I saw the note not to do that. I think this applies to most epoxy coatings.

Applied it to my new house in FL and everything was going fine until I was covering probably the last 25sq/ft. I mixed it up in separate tubs but for some reason that last little bit kicked off on me. I was able to get it down, but it is a little lumpy.

So I used epoxy in the basement floor. One thing must be noted here make sure to use first squidgy to spread the epoxy and then use the roller. Appears to be like a good product only time will tell and test it.
