Anyone used polebarnsdirect.com???

Hello all,

I am in the process of finalizing my barn purchase. I was about to pull the trigger with diypolebarns.com but then they started getting hinky with the pricing over the last couple days. They tried to pull a fast one on me with some of the pricing and when I called them out on it they blamed it on their computer not giving an accurate shipping charge so they adjusted the prices elsewhere to make up for it; even though their shipping is supposed to be "free/figured into the price" anyways.

So now I am searching for a new supplier and have come across polebarnsdirect.com. Has anyone used them? I searched the forum but only found one person to have purchased a building from them and it is a fairly old thread. They seem pretty comparable to diypolebarns and so far have been better on the customer service side. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

No but I did buy from DIY and had their preferred builder put it up and am very satisfied. I didnt speak to a human at all,everything by email and went smoothly.

i built my own, made my poles. pole barns are one of the easiest building to build. had help from friends.sam delong telling me how to make the poles and lay out building. also he helped me with setting trusses. 2% and Kebo for showing me how to roof(rip both of them).used shingle roof. rickey dean for the slab help( union mason),we swaped out wiring on his addition.

493, I have been talking to DIY for about a year now through email and up until 3 days ago they had earned my business. Once they tried to pull a fast one on me I was done. I have seen several positive experiences from their customers on here but I just dont think I can get past what happened in order to buy from them.

Thats too bad. Hope you have better luck elsewhere.
I also thought they dated the estimated costs and locked the price as quoted for a length of time.

They do date them and they are good for 30 days. It was the way they went about it this last time that put me off. After they had "adjusted" the prices they said they would give me a quote with the original numbers and made it sound like they were doing me a favor. It just really rubbed me the wrong way.

For all the hassle of buying something over the Internet, sight unseen, help unseen and customer service unseen, I can't believe that you don't have a local yard that would love that business. My guy designed it, Estimated it. Delivered it and recommended a builder. Everything was on time and on budget.

Nothing but good things to say about my experience with DIY pole barn purchase. Bought a 42x72 last fall and Dustin took good care of me.

Do you have a Menards down there? They do pole sheds. That's how John Menard got started.

I would stop in a local lumberyard, the "old school" kind usually with a family name on them, and ask if they have a couple of contacts for pole barn builders. They will know them as they are probably at least seasonal customers. And the lumberyard stands to benefit indirectly by selling more materials.

Personally I would steer clear from an internet company selling a building. Unless its down the street you are so far separated from them you have no leverage when you get to the inevitable snags.

If you do use the internet company, I'd insist on everything in writing, read all the fine print at least twice and let your mind wander thru possible problems, then if still comfortable, sign the paper and make your own copies, etc. Then you have at minimum something enforceable, not to mention the hassle of trying to use a court in their locality should things really get out of whack.

That is the way I did my shop....stopped at a small local lumber supply company and they drew the build on their computer, gave me a price and mentions they do have a crew that they use. He gave me a price and I signed. Local company, local crew, beautiful quality of lumber.....much better than HDepot. Real happy.

Unfortunately we dont have anyone that supplies pole barn materials around me which is why I am going with a kit from online. I will most certainly be reading everything they send me before signing and finalizing the purchase.

After doing more research and talking to the company some more I signed the contract and sent payment today. I have officially purchased my shop now.

Which company did you sign with?
I put up a Diy unit and had nothing but praise for them. Materials top quality and any questions / troubles were promptly handled. Problems were very small.

I signed with Pole Barns Direct out of Minerva, OH. Looks like they both get their materials from Graber so quality should be on par.

I had been talking to DIY for several months and was pretty set on buying from them but a few weeks ago their numbers have gotten a little sketchy. I changed a few things amd fot a new quote and they tried charging me more than originally quoted for an item that did not change. They tried playing it off as their salesman compensating for delivery costs because their computer was wrong which just does not sound right to me.

Regardless if it's an old thread or not, if the product is good then that would be enough. I checked on their site and it's good and seems reliable. However, have you tried talking to any of their customer service? I think there is a contact info area there where you can ask questions. It's my first time knowing about them though.

I have an update on using polebarnsdirect.com

I finally got my building finished up and the plastic frames around the glass panes had gotten warped. The windows had been stored with all shipping packaging intact. I called up the company and of course they requested pictures which I sent. After talking to their supplier they (window supplier) have agreed to send out replacements at no cost to me. Polebarnsdirect has been very helpful in dealing with this.
