Well like it says anyone using a small roll cab as a cart? I am a Diesel tech and wanting to upgrade from my 4 drawer cart to a full drawer cart. But I'm not sure if I will miss the open top and Prybar storage if I go to a roll cab. Deffinatly be more affordable

I use a kennedy roll cab as cart and love it. I have tried several carts and never liked any of them. I made a wood top for the kennedy and use it as flat work surface. I don't keep go to tools in it. I keep rags in the bottom drawer. The top drawer I keep my bobcat remote start tool and when I need to use the laptop on a machine, the cab turns into a nice little computer cart. The rest of the box is pretty much overflow tools.

I worked in a truck dealership and one of the longest mechanics there had a mismatched 26" stacker for all his daily use tools. It worked great for him. I'd say grab a bottom roller and a Sunex locking pry bar holder (8011 or 8011BK) and you'd have plenty of room.

I added one to my HF 4 drawer (along with a side shelf), and with some good organization I was rolling around with almost the same amount of tools as my buddy's giant Snap-On box.

I bought a 26" SO 7 drawer full of tools a while back and was surprised at how well it rolled full. Thought it would make a great cart. Didn't consider the pry bar storage but ihate covered that with the locking pry bar holder. Brilliant idea.

Hmmm ok excellent to hear. That's why I was considering this my matco cart is packed, and we are a huge shop a lot of moving around and there's some thing like my cooling pressure tester, air lift coolant fill and such that I would really like to keep in my cart but no room. And there's some roll cabs on craigslist cheap right now

Snap-on marketed their K300 Rolla-bench series for exactly that use more than fifty years ago.

I've used mine that way for years and wouldn't trade it for a new tool cart.

Yep.

I used a 26" wide or so bottom roller taht was extra tall with the screwdriver /pry bar rack screwed to the side for years with no problems. Most pry bars will fit in the box itself.
Only the extra long ones along with long breaker bars often needed to find a home in the lock lid rack.

Need more storage? then add a HF side box.
Top still stays active as a work surface on that rollcab and no need to clear things off due to lifting that damn lid.

I have both and each has thier place, but full dwr lift lid carts are expensive while a number of small roll cabs can be had cost effectively.

Good luck.

I do and it's the best move I've made yet. I tried many different carts and never completely liked any of them. I found a Snap On KRA 4107D for cheap and I use it for my cart. It stores my most used tools, is my mobile work surface and is my pack mule for heavy parts. With a 2400 lb load capacity it would be hard to overload. I even have a small vise mounted on it.

I picked up a 30" Matco roller box and made a hinged plywood top for it, works great. I mainly keep shop supplies and such in it though. And if I dont get my tools put away I can lock the top.

With my matco cart, I have enclosed the bottom and made doors so it has a lot more locking space.seen others add drawers by bolting mid boxes to the underside of the drawers.or you could get another cart and bolt them together like a train.
