Anyone using an Air Curtain

Has anyone used one or more air curtains mounted above their garage door?

I am interested in doing this to prevent insect entry (rather than climate control) as I live at the Jersey Shore (get it all out now) and the gnats are really annoying in the summer.

It looks like air curtains can work up to 8 feet based on the ones available at Northern Tool.

noisy as hell, power consumption, blows dust around...........i suggest a screen for the door............and mosy are meant for intermittenr use such as keeping cold air from entering when the door opens............have em at work half the time they are disconnected by those worjing close by.............hope this helps.....

Last time I made a comment about jersey shore I got slapped.

Anyway

They tend to take up alot of electricity and also stir up dust. Most of them(exept the super exepensive ones) are loud. However if theres people going constinitly in and out there good. For your case I would recomend maybe putting a screen on a slider. That way just slide it out and there you have ascreen.

Look into evaporative coolers for the cooling part.

Grainger has them. They are expensive to buy and expensive to run, but they work.

Hi njfl, hope you managed to sort your problem of keeping insects away! For anyone else struggling, modern air curtains are actually way more efficient nowadays, and can effectively keep insects out all year round with minimal noise and power consumption.

You mean those things that blow air downward at an angle to keep the ac from leaving when you open the door use a lot of electricity? Isn't their purpose to save electricity?
