I'm using an AutoXray 6000 for OBDII and it's good that it can also do older cars. The only thing lacking is ABS and SRS. Last year I bought an OTC that does ABS and airbags but it's limited to domestics. I see the Autel does Asian and Euro models and at $300, it would pay for itself after 2 trips to a dealer to reset an airbag light. Anyone tired it yet?

I have the AL519 and it is a decent interface. I got it about 2 months ago to replace my CReader V that I gave back to Matco on a warranty claim. I wanted to get the 802 but couldn't justify the extra cost considering the shop I'm at has a MODIS. Autel's "troubleshooter" is really just a list of everything that can set a trouble light. It has yet to really help me narrow down a cause.
Depending on how old the vehicle is it may be possible to reset the airbag light with a jumper of some sort (Honda comes to mind). If the 801 is cheaper than an upgrade to your OTC I'd think it would be worth picking up.
Hope this helps, good luck.

This one is nice since it can graph and read CAN bus data. I got the innova can read live data and CAN but cant graph. Just a little cheaper but i would still go for the Autel.

Bought Maxidiag elite 802 from amazon to reset my 2011 kia soul airbag.
Read the codes well (low voltage >8v, something like that).
Plus you can update the memory card included via the net.
Im keeping it.

I bought one. Havn't really put it to use yet so my only complaint would be the cable. It uses a very old style computer printer type of connector with the two thumb screws. Bit of a pain to connect and disconnect.

Just receive mines. It is a great tool for the price (I paid $350) Only used it on one car, 2008 Altima and it scanned all modules. I told me which tire triggered the tire pressure light. I THINK there are 2 versions of the tool: The "All Systems" and the "4 Systems" version. All systems include all modules, and 4 systems -engine, airbag, abs, and trans. It is very confusing.

I got the MD802 last week for $292 shipped from a seller on Amazon. I haven't really had a chance to play around with it too much, but after spending about 30 minutes zipping through the menus, I have to admit, I'm VERY impressed. It's a lot of bang for the buck. I sold the Innova 3110 I've been using for the past 5 or 6 years to my brother for $50, so he's happy and I'm happy. What I like about the MD802 is it covers vehicles from all continents, uses a micro SD card for memory expansion and graphs, reads live, covers multiple systems, lists makes, models, etc. and you get a year of free updates. My only concern is that I don't know what it's going to cost to do updates after that, but it can't be much worse that what Innova wanted for just the Ford ABS pack ($100).

Oh, and I'm fine with the RS-232 connector (someone above mentioned that it bothered them). It's pretty much the standard for these hand-held scanners anyway.

I've had the MD802 Maxidiag Elite for about 1 and a half years. I'm very happy with it. While I am a retired mechanic I still work on family and friends vehicles. It has done everything I've asked of it. In August I paid $100.00 for another year of updates. Many homeowners would probably skip that. If you don't need bi-directional, the 802 is a great scanner. Just my opinion.

Looking for more feedback on MD802.

Does anyone know if you can skip a year or two of updates can you just do it it every 3 or 4 years and (effectively) get all intermediate updates ?

I use the 802 on a Sprinter ( few scan tools accurately talk to MB Sprinter) and several Hondas. I have not updated the 802 in the last year. It still works fine on these model and years. I think updates would be important if I was trying to deal with 2015-2016 models.

The MD802 is mainly used to read codes and clear codes for European, Asian, and Domestic vehicles from year 1996. The update is necessary if you want to use it on latest car models.

When you pay for the update subscription you are entitled to all updates that are on the server. So if you skip a year or two you can still get the updates from those years. That is how it was explained to me.
