Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone on the forum is using Gedore pliers or cutters and how they compare to other brands such as Knipex and NWS?

I'm thinking about getting some just for the occasional DIY job, though I might get some VDE rated ones just to be on the safe side. Would VDE rated pliers be more comfortable to use?

Thanks.

They're fine! Not sure if they make them in house or if they're rebranded, but they're good tools!

They offer them with different grips, so you don't have to get VDE if you just want comfort!

Gedore produces their own pliers in Austria.
Here a video of their production:
and another one:

I'm tempted to try the CK pliers as they are a bit cheaper than the Knipex.

Wiha pliers look good though I've read that some are made in Vietnam and some are made in Switzerland. Has anyone tried either of these?

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone tried CK pliers?

Yep! I used to have a couple of pairs in my road box! Well made, and for the money a good buy, but the steel they were made of rusted at the slightest chance! I was forever cleaning them off!

I'd buy Gedore, Knipex, NWS or any of the other German makes in preference!

Can't recall if C.K. make different ranges of pliers, of so this problem may only affect the cheapest! I have a lot of other C.K. tools, and their ckassic screwdrivers are superb quality!

Had some CK cutters with the gaps in the jaws for stripping common UK wire sizes, the joint soon wore so the cutting edges didn't line up well so there was always a few uncut strands when working with multi stranded wires.

Knipex are nice, my favorite cutters are NWS. I have some Eclipse cutters in my tool pouch and they are still good after about three years use.
