Anyone have a phone museum? : ) I was going through old stuff and just had to research this thing to see what it was called. Really had no idea. I knew the jacks on it were the narrow kind for a handset, not the rj11 for a wall jack to phone. But what to call it? I had couplers and splitters in my box, and this thing. Just one of them. Then I could see it, not easy to read at all, even in good light. At least for older eyes. But it's got the name "TWISSTOP" on it. Then I saw the patent number and thought no way I'm reading that on a clear piece of plastic, but I persevered and finally got it. 4,699,592 patent for "rotatable connector". (still trying to figure out how 4 conductors can maintain connectivity with this thing spinning around. One I could see if there were two copper surfaces but this thing spins 360 degrees. The patent was given in 1986, and disclaimed in 2004 (guess most everyone had a cell by then)

Edit: It was actually Twisstop, not Twisstup. Now I can search it.

yup - think twist stop - it stops the elves that break in at night from twisting handset cords into a gordian knot.
