I saw this Craftsman 508-51811 vise sitting in an old lab and thought I would ask the GJ experts about it. I haven't had a lot of luck finding info on the Internet about it.

It's interesting in the way a well made, built to last vise is. Meaning; you can bolt that down and use it for years to come because they can take a beating. It's not extraordinary or anything like that, just a good vise that's much superior to today's big-box import vises. Use it!

Anything interesting? From a function standpoint no, it's pretty ordinary.

However, from a visual standpoint, it does look cool with a two tone paint scheme. Check out page 328 of the Vise thread. :pimpflash

Thanks for the replies. I saw it on a walk thru of a facility that has been shut down. Been through this place a bunch of times and have seen a few columbians, a Morgan, 2 Wilton 450's, ad some kind of Reed.

Thought the old Craftsman was pretty cool.
