Anyone know who makes Bosch filters? I use them on my Toyotas. Filter and box says made in USA.

Purolator Filters NA LLC is a joint venture company of the Bosch Group and Mann+Hummel Group.

I asked him what that was all about and he said that WIX is sometime contracted by FRAM to make some of their lower volumne filters.

It's more like four...
Champion Labs (Mobil 1, super tech)
Fram (Microgard, Honda, Oreilly's brand)
Purolator (Bosch, pep boys brand)
Wix(Napa)
Can anyone add more / correct to the list?
There was a post I read on a forum a few years back from a guy that totally bashed Fram filters.
I've used fram filters for decades without any issues. In fact I've never personally heard of any problems. I think it's just one of those urban myths that the Internet passes along similar to how armorall destroys dashboards. I don't use it any more, use mobil1 oil filters nowadays just because I use mobil1 oil and don't mind paying premium prices for premium parts, just a personal preference.
I still use fram air filters they seem to be well constructed and seal well.
No problem with the OEM Toyota filter. They are a safe choice and I don't feel the need to second-guess the factory engineers. Marketing is another story because of the common assumption that anything at a dealership is overpriced, and some people will remain convinced of that no matter what you tell them (the "daddy told me" mentality), but they are much more competitively priced than people realize. List price on a Toyota oil filter is a whopping $5.41 and has been for at least eight years...I have been using Toyota filters in my Tundra, Camry and Corolla, any opinions on the OEM filters?

problem with filter comparisons is the fact that people tend to use the cheapo orange fram filter against filters twice the price. Fram has at least 3 tiers for most applications.
extra guard-dirt cheap, 3k intervals
tough guard-more comparable to other brands, synthetic media, best filtration, few dollars more expensive, 5-7k intervals
extended guard-all metal/mesh construction, no glue or cardboard, 10k+ intervals

) I thought I would tell that the filter collapse does happen, coming from personal experiance. And yes I did cut the offending filter apart and it had sucked together and clogged up to the piont of no pressure. But anywho that is my writeup on why I hate Fram.
Ever since I had a Fram Racing filter collapse on my race car I have never used another, nor do I ever plan on it. I remember a few years back in Chevy High Performance the tech editor bashed Fram, the next month he had to write an appology (they almost lost advertising I would say). The man just spoke the truth!!

I was at WM over the weekend and checked out the oil filters.
The "cheapo orange fram filter" runs about $5 at WM for my vehicles. Across the aisle, I noticed that the Purolator Classic for my vehicles is a buck or two cheaper.![]()
