Has anyone built an apple scratter? I will be constructing one soon and would appreciate any suggestions and ideas.

I haven't made one of those but I did use a washing machine to make cider many years ago. It was easy and worked well. I got the idea from the Mother Earth News in the early 80's.

My overly religious cousin turned hundreds of kilograms of apples into opalescent juice. He stored the juice in cleaned used 4 liter milk containers which he kept in a chest freezer. After several years of storage with the juice being frozen, he offered it to me and I gladly accepted. I do not understand what happened, but that apple juice had some real "KICK". There must be some sort of slow fermenting going on.
I did not have to be told twice to , "Drink your juice, Dear." Two glasses and I was done.
