Anyone know a really good appliance forum? I've got a whirlpool dryer that is double thumping and also squealing when starting up. Replacing rollers, belt, seals, tensioner, and glides did not fix it so I am hoping maybe someone knows a good forum for this sort of thing. Figure that almost everyone here maintains their own appliances too. :)

just a followup post. Could not find a decent appliance forum, the typical answer was gee don't know but call this guy in your area and hire them to do the work. Yesterday I replaced the rollers again, shafts, belt, fan, and tensioner. Used real talcum powder to lub the seals and white lithium grease on the shafts. Also filed the drum weld a little to make it smoother, and used some Berrymans on the motor pulley and drum where the belt rides. Apparently the dryer fabric sheets off-gas and build up on things that can cause belt slippage etc. Quiet as a mouse now

It also shortens the life of the heating element on electric dryers.

Check the drum it might be out of round in the front seen it before. Check your user manual some drums have a 10 year warranty. Have had to do a fue at work.

Interesting. It's my understanding that fabric softner uses a petroleum type product to make clothes softer. Ever notice that you can try to wipe the water off after a shower and the towel doesn't seem to absorb the water ?

I wonder what is in the dryer sheet that is off gassing ?
