Hey I dont know of this is the proper place or if o should post over at heating and a/c for those guys. Either way I've been working on my girls grandma's freezer she has this problem where her freezer will run for a few weeks then will stop. Unplug it for a little, then wait a little and itll kick back on and be good for a while. The evaporator fan is working okay, the condenser fan is working okay l and the condenser works. The evaporator coils have a good even layer of frost there was only one portion that had a little ice rock on it but I wouldn't have called it a build up or freezing over. This makes me thing the freon levels are fine, I can hear the freon it almost seems like its whistling in the lines very faintly at times. I'm thinking that what's going on is the freezer is kicking into defrost mode and getting stuck in defrost at times.
However I can not find the defrost timer for the life of me I've checked behind the lower kick plate, by the freezer left front hinge and in the fridge by the UI. I'm hoping to figure out where this thing is so if it happens agian I can turn it and see if the compressor kicks back on.

I unplugged the fridge and checked the starter relay, the relay itself doesnt rattle. However the starter unit itself has a single small rattle in it, it doesnt sound like pocket change or a rattling can, just a single piece of slightly loose metal type of sound. It didn't concern me so I put it back in and chalked it up as being okay.
When I plugged in the fridge it took probably about 5 min for the evap fan to turn on, and 10 for the compressor and condenser fan to kick on. But when it did, they both did. Is it normal for it to take a bit or should the compressor kick on immediately or with the evap fans?
Anybody got some suggestions or thoughts for me?
I need a new voltmeter I was able to confirm 120 volts but wasn't able to check continuity in the starter. I'm waiting to get a good meter instead of buying another cheap one.
