I have a 1200 sq ft shop that was built in Dec of 2012. The slab is power troweled with no relief cuts in it. I've known all along I need to have some sort of protection to reduce spill penetration, but was apprehensive about the right product, how to install, etc, because I've never felt with it before. After much deliberation I decided the HD39 was best for me. It is a working shop so a beautiful floor is secondary to me but I don't want huge soaked in spots of grease everywhere.

Pictures would be of no value this this thread, as the product didn't change change the appearance. I started by moving everything from half of the shop to the other side. I swept, sprayed the floor to look for areas that repelled water and cleaned the few spots with all kinds of cleaners. Then I rinsed the floor with a water hose, then pressure washed it. I gave it a day to dry, put down masking tape for a dividing line and sprayed the HD39 on. After full coverage, I kept an eye out for areas drying/absorbing first, and added a little to those spots. I did that for about a half hour, took a mop and mopped it down to even out the product, and then let it dry for a day.

I moved everything to the treated side and cleaned and treated the other half same as first. It was very evident where the dividing line was because the HD39 just beaded up on the treated portion. When I mopped the second side I made sure to get the product up from the previously treated side.

I put the whole 5 gallons on the 1200 sq ft. Maybe I put it on a little heavy because it took about 1 1/2 hrs to dry for foot traffic. It doesn't show any residue on the floor, so I'm hoping that means good penetration.

Overall, after cleaning, applying the product is a breeze. It gives plenty of time to work with it, as it just sits wherever it doesn't penetrate until it is removed. Just a note, water spilled on the floor just sits there, it doesn't disappear like it did on the untreated floor. I haven't spilled any oil/grease yet, but I expect it to act the same way.

If you are considering this type of treatment, don't be afraid to dive in. It works great.
