Applying a second clear coat good or bad idea?

Started the thread about epoxying my garage floor and wanted to pose this question.

I have another clear coat kit left over and I'm tempted to put on a second coat of clear over the first while I have the garage emptied out. Bad idea or no? Can you put on too much of the stuff. Of course it would need to be completely dry first. Should I just take it back and get my money back or put another coat on??? Any suggestions?

You would have to sand. Wether or nor it's a good idea i'll let someone who knows these floors better than me answer.

I think I would put two coats because it is a thinner product than some of the other ones. When I was looking at different epoxies I had priced the quikrete at doing two coats. Just make sure and prep your first layer correctly so the second one sticks. I mean unless you are happy with it the way it is. But its probably thin.

By "prepping" what do you mean exactly?

I don't know if 'sanding' is the complete answer either tho.
I'd call the manufacturer 'Quikrete' & see if they have a time limit on a second coat. They may suggest wiping it down with acetone or something, then applying the second coat.
If you sand it, then you've got to clean the heck out of it again, ...

Yes, two coats is the way to go. Just lightly sand - wipe with denatured alchol. Let dry for a couple hours. Apply next coat.

if you do decide to sand and apply, I dont suggest using a small "palm sander" I just sanded my floor for 5 hours, it was one of the most miserable things I have ever done.
