Next weekend I'll be putting the epoxy down in my 5000 sqft shop. I'm aiming to lay a thin primer coat, thick coat, then 2 coats of poly. I'm going white. I know a lot of people don't like it, I do. My question is how do I walk on the floor without leaving marks while I apply the poly? I have spiked shoes for the epoxy but I'm worried if I use those on top of the partially cured thick coat I'll leave marks and scratches. The recoat windows are 24 epoxy and 12 poly.

I'm sure one of the floor specialists will chime in here...

You can probably get those booties that go over your shoes at the big-box store. Usually I see them in White or Blue...

They have shoes with spikes in the bottoms, kind of like golf shoes on steroids to walk around while spreading the epoxy. The marks from the spikes will flow in and you will not see them once the coating flows out and cures.

The guys who did my floor just wore regular golf shoes. Worked great.

You will only use the spikes for the thick epoxy. No need for them when rolling primer or poly.

You should where booties when rolling the poly or just where your socks.

Thanks Scotty and Shea. All of my shoes have colored soles and seem to at least occasionally leave little prints on the fresh ground concrete. I'll go with socks.
