Applying texture to exterior concrete

Thought I'd ask the crew here if anyone can recommend a product or technique to roughen or apply a texture to smooth exterior concrete. My front yard walkway was poured on the 60s and they made it smooth like interior concrete. It's been a hazard every winter and a hazard even when it rains a little bit. I'd like to try one of those deck/concrete restore products. One problem is that it has to be somewhat resistant to a snow shovel. Anyone have experience?

There are a dozen different companies offering overlayments. Google it. Can stain and seal once applied

You can seal it and add sandblasting sand. We roll the sealer on, and then sprinkle the sand on top and roll again to even it out. This is all done at once. We don't let anything dry or set up in between. Not a lot of sand, a very light layer.
We have snow, by the end of snow season we have usually plowed/shoveled/brushed our traction sand off.

Our Armor Renew is a textured coating that just rolls on. As for shoveling, its a coating so like any coating, it can be damaged. Just use a plastic shovel and you should be fine.
