Hey I have been working at school bus fleet garage the last three years and I'm just finishing my apprenticeship in the next 2 weeks . I applyed at the local Peterbilt dealer and also a Mack and frightliner dealership. If anyone here has worked at any dealers can they give me an ideal on which would best to work at . I got a call back from the Mack and also frightliner. Where I'm working at now is nice , straight days and benefits. I just really wanted to be working on trucks .

dealerships are good, there are some politics, and can be rushed at times to get things done. You will have efficiency evaluations which can be a good thing, but also a bad thing. I don't know much about those dealerships specifically. but I work for an international dealership, I have quite liked it, and have a good group of guys to work with. I think that the people who are there make or break an employment situation. Best would be to scope them both out, go for interviews, and see if you can talk to the other employees to ask how things are there. Just remember the probation period is for YOU just as much as the employer to see if it is a good fit.

You will probably be on a swing shift at a dealer or possibly even straight nights for a while so that's something to consider. I work at an International dealer aswell and I really enjoy it. Lots of training to be done so you're always learning. I really like that. Whereabouts in ontario are you?
