I finally got my own garage when we bought our house in 2011. The house was built in 1959, and we bought it from the original owner. The garage is roughly 14' x 19', with a narrow (7'8") garage door and low (7'-4") ceiling. Not that large, but it was mine.

These photos date to 2012 or so, after we'd been in the house for a little while.

(Note that the floor plan dates to after we moved the door between the garage and the rest of the basement.)

I mostly used the garage as it was for a while, but in the last year or so I've been tring to make it more useful. One of the early projects was to demo the bench in the alcove that the P.O. had built, and replace it with some functional storage.

My father is downsizing, so I got most of his tools. Some I've sold, some I've sent to my brother, and some I'm keeping. Here's how it mostly sits today:

Next project is build a rolling cabinet for a couple of tools to free up some more space, build a rack for the wood, and hang a plywood ceiling. Because of the haphazard way that plumbing and wiring has been installed over time, I'm going to add 2x2s to the bottom of the joists so that I can cover everything.

Finally finished boxing the ductwork and installing the ceiling. Not the prettiest but should keep the dust out of the insulation.
