Arboga-Maskiner Information

I am new to posting. My husband is 87 and had a stroke 2 years ago so we are giving up his automotive shop. He has an Arboga-Maskiner drilling machine but I cannot find any quite like it online. Can anyone help me identify it so we can sell it? Thank you.

Arboga made nice machinery, yours is just a drill press (but a nice one). A similar model is below currently being offered for $1800 USD. More information about Arboga is easily found on the internet.

I believe that the OP's machine is more than "just a drill press" . It is incorporated into what I believe is a head machine for doing valve guides.

The table fixture is interesting.

The fixturing is for holding a head for internal combustion engines and then reaming out the valve guides or boring for valve seat inserts. Specialized equipment for the engine rebuilding tradesmen.

-That is a match for what the OP has, good search skills on that one Larry. You've caused me to go searching for better information. It appears to be part of a machine offered by Winona (Winona-Van Norman) that has an Arboga drill press with an air table mounted to it. I've not been in the automotive end of shop work but all the videos of good automotive machine shops used a milling machine or a jig borer for valve seats and especially for valve guides.

-A machine by Serdi seems to be preferred, the Winona models are less expensive but not very well thought of on some speed shop websites due to lack of rigidity by design. I watched a few videos of setup and operation of a Winona model, seemed a bit marginal to me.

-To @GaryShop26 : For further pricing information or a shop manual you'll have to identify which Winona model it is, a Winona PH-2000 seemed the most commonly available. If you're selling, it would be quite important to ensure the air table works freely and the drill press works as it should with no abnormal noises. A similar model is in the link below.

By the way, the table rides on a bed of air (pneumatic) which I understand was not a standard feature.

It says L-2524 on it. My husband always called it a "seat and guide machine".

Never knew air bearings were ever used on machine tools of that era.

Here is a similar TYPE of machine, although it's doubtless not the same model as yours.
You'll need to accurately ascertain the model number of both the drill press and the Winona table, as well as listing the related accoutrements, in order to be able to make a stab at "market value".

Looks like a pretty nice set-up. Not a lot of people still installing seats and guides, though.... you're looking at a specialty niche market: seriousl specialty engine work.

I don't know that there's much demand for that machine as designed, but fitted with a t slotted table, I think that would make a very nice drill press, given the tilt functionality.
