I've taken a look at what the city requires in terms of drawings to issue a permit, so I'm looking for a local architect to draw up garage plans for me.

Anyone have any contacts?

I ended up finding a draftsman on CL. For a garage, you don't really need an architect and the price is right!

Definitely, unless you had a really elaborate garage in mind, an architect isn't needed. I'm drawing up my own, and I imagine a lot of people on here do that too.

My friend needed drawings done for his garage to get a permit, and he just went to Home Depot, had them draw it up as he waited, they printed a bill of materials, and wrote up an order for him for all the materials.

I had a local lumber yard draw up my garage and design the trusses. The county approved the drawings. Since my building was over a set size I did need an engineers stamp on the foundation.
