Are ALL grip-on locking pliers made in Spain?

Grip-On supplies Snap-On, among other makes, but I'm fairly sure they're not a Snap-on subsidiary. Be careful shopping online, many retailers including Amazon will mis-mark GRIP as Grip-On, showing Chinese **** next to Spanish excellence.

Grip-On =/= Bahco, SO, or anything else. I'm thinking it is it's own company, not a subsidiary of anything else. And for as many of their locking pliers that I've seen, they have all been made in Spain.

I recieved 3 black & orange Grip-On's from Sears in a box instead of the 3 GWrench long handle cushion grips I ordered. But anyways, I didn't like the quality compared to my Peterson VG's.

Great info, thanks!

I read on this board that the jaws of Grip On pliers are cast, not forged like other brands. Any difference or failures in actual use because of this?

I'm going to have to go with Monte on this one, they're forged.. cast jaws would just... not work. Even extreme el-cheapo Chinese ones from HF or Walmart are forged.

Mistaken identity. I believe both of them saw the stereotypical "look" of a cast part and thought it was cast, which is really just ridiculous.

Perhaps they're too used to forged pieces that are polished like crazy afterwards.

I do not blame you for reading it and just going with the idea. Happens all the time to me :)

Brilliant. I've just received a massive Gedore locking pliers, but I'm ordering one of these Spanish babes right away :)

P.S. In case you were wondering why I buy so many locking pliers, looks at what happens to them just after few months of use

(the dings are from my hammering to return them to original shape each time they twist)

:D

Dear God look near the pivot point for the lever! Absolutely mangled! And that's after you fixed it?

Really, you must describe this... "usage" of the tools. I just want to know.

maybe i would try a welded construction so no rivets can come loose like Bollmann pliers and a larger pair like 12"/300mm
