The fact's are it comes down to money = greed.
Produce/build cheaper and sell it for more....and forget (having a soft heart for) the consumer.
Many American manufacturer's have moved their production out of the U.S.A. to Third World countries oversea's (or across the border) to produce and make their product far cheaper without any U.S. Government involvement such as rules, regulations, restrictions, etc. and of course Union interference, hassle's, etc. with the big benefit factors such as a much, much lower pay scale, cheaper to produce, etc. all for the benefit of profit $$$$.
It's all business....every manufacturer's main goal in business is "to make money $$$".....not lose money. So if a business starts losing money they find other alternatives to change that around.
What is one of the main things that has been lost in all this?.......Product Quality, Durability and Pride.....all for the benefit of money $.
Other U.S. manufacturer's have simply been forced to either sell the company (to an outside source China, Taiwan, India, Russian, etc.) or merge with another company (foreign or domestic) and re-organize and finds ways to (again) produce cheaper and sell higher.
One must come to the realization and cope that today we live in a "throw-away" society. The days of manufacturer's producing good, strong, quality reliable durable product's are long gone.
Think about it....look in your house and point out all the things that have either been produced (in a foreign country) or built/produced/assembled with foreign parts (here in the U.S.) that you use in your house everyday?....TV's, microwave, washer & dryer, etc., yes even clothes.....or even drive around for that matter.
One last thing about all this:
Just because it may say "Made in the U.S.A." no longer means that it is the best made out of all the rest ( in terms of quality, durability, etc.).
Yes at one time it did but not any more....that's rare now.
