Are all the 100 pc tamper/security bit sets the same?

I think I have three boxes from HF with at least two brand names, all about $8 on sale, none broken so far, one of the cases getting a bit warped, but no real indication they didn't come from the same factory, or that the same isn't true for the half dozen different places and brands selling the sets.

Is there any difference between the various cheap and not so cheap bit sets (100 pc security sets)?

They all have looked the same to me. I keep one in the truck but bought a Tekton Everybit set for the shop. It is much better but 3 times the price. The cheap ones have off center drilled holes and other manufacturing defects. They most likely are all made in the same factory.

Do you mean contents, or Quality?

I bought 6 sets of the DeWalt DWAX200 in a nice plastic case and they have one marked DeWalt T35. China. This is the only set I have ever got a T35 in and the quality of the bits is low they shatter easily.

The best one I've found to have a big variety of uncommon bits in reasonable quality without spending a ton is this Titan set. Even the case is pretty well made.

Something funky (wrong) with that link, but Titan 148 bit set is easy to find, about $36 shipped from many usual sources. Curiously Titan also has a 100 bit set that looks like all the other 100 bit sets and costs about $9. No guess on if the bits are different in quality.

Not sure what happened to the link, but yes the 148 pc. set is what I was referring to. It is unquestionably of higher quality than the 100 pc set you see everywhere. I don't beat on mine everyday of course, it's for those oddballs that I'm not going to buy from Wiha etc. and use often, but they're definitely pretty tough and fit well. As I mentioned, the case is quite nice also, it bounces around in my road box and everything stays in place. Other sets I've had were always jumbled up when I opened them.
