Are AW32 hydraulic oil all the same?

Lowes, HD, O'reilly sells some.. does it matter where I get it from?

Need 3 gallons for my car lift.

I checked with the guys I purchased the lift from and they just said make sure it's anti-foaming. I ended up getting a 5 gal tin from Amazon since I have Prime shipping, got it in a couple days.

Are all SAE 20 weight oils the same? AW32 is just the weight/viscosity of the oil and each brand is different. For your use most any should work.

Your local Autozone store carries it in a 5 gal pail.

A farm store (tractor supply etc.) will no doubt have it a lot cheaper than an auto parts store.

Basically, yes. But every manufacturer plays around with the blend somewhat. They choose different base oils, add their own mix of proprietary additives, etc. So long as the end product meets the specifications set out by the end user, it's good to go.

A couple of months ago I was messing around with "home brewing" some auto care products to see if I could make them cheaper than I could buy them. Found out with most of them I can't. But it was very interesting to discover what things the different brands used to make their famous products. I tried to find common chemicals that I could get access to to use in my home brews. AW32 hyd oil was one of those base ingredients.
