Are Craftsman 20 volt batteries backward compatible?

I have a Craftsman Professional drill and work light that I bought back around Christmas of 2010, one of the batteries is dead, and I am trying to figure out if the current Craftsman 20 volt batteries are backwards compatible. I contacted Craftsman and they were of no help, their answer was pretty much that since it was made before SBD bought Craftsman, that they do not answer questions on those tools. The battery says "20.0v Diehard" on it. Does anyone have the same style Craftsman Professional cordless tools and know if current Craftsman 20 volt batteries will work in them? Or if any other batteries will work with them? Thank you

Probably not.

Go buy a new lithium drill, you'll be amazed by how light they are and the power compared to the old craftsman

Looks like there are some third parties that make battery packs for this model. Sears must have sold a lot of them for an aftermarket to exist. I was surprised how many have sold from this Amazon seller.

That said, I agree with the above poster. By the time you buy 1 (let alone 2) of these aftermarket batteries, you could pick up a nice drill and and battery bundle (with a charger) from home depot that will be an absolutely stellar performer by comparison.

But, if you have a sentimental attachment to that drill, at least you have an option.
