I got a 5hp 20gallon air compressor from my local habitat for Humanity store for $100 with a 7 day return policy.

I'm about to start another construction project and the larger tank would help with the air guns. I have smaller compressors now.

Starts up, holds air, made in the USA but cant find much on the internet about this brand.

Thanks.

I have a craftsman which is devilbiss. Bought it in 88 and it still runs great. I worry about the tank but it seems good yet. Other than changing oil here and there and intake filter I have not done much else to keep it going. 5 hp 20 gal.

If you can nail about 5-10 nails without it cycling you’re good to go.i built my whole shop with a cheap Coleman of the same size and HF tools. Go for it. For $100 you ain’t got much to lose

It looks like a consumer-grade compressor and not up to the quality of the old more industrial grade Devillbiss units, but it will likely work fine for your purposes. Made in USA is certainly a plus.

I've got a 20 gallon 5.5 HP. DeVilbiss Pro Air I bought in 1995. Vertical tank, 125 psi, 8.3 at 40 and 5.8 at 90. Bought it at Lowes, came with an air ratchet, impact gun, hose and fittings. It's all the compressor I've ever needed. It's needed nothing during since new. I put a ball valve and drain hose on the bottom to make draining water easier.

Keep yours clean and drained and it will probably run a long time.

Just so you know, that isn't a real 5HP compressor, more like 1-1/2 HP, about 5 CFM

That is the old school Chinese HP, where the compressor HP is what ever you put on the label. My guess is an oil less pump, but maybe not.

For $100 it is probably a ok deal, but it doesn't deserve a "you ****!".

The old ones were outstanding compressors. My grandfather had a very big devilbus air compressor he used for decades. I don't ever remember that compressor ever breaking down.

I had that same Devillbiss oiless compressor and it ran great up through the day I sold it. It will be more than plenty for nailers. The only reason I sold mine was because I bought a 220v 60 gallon to run my sandblasting cabinet. Mine performed flawlessly for just under 30 years! They are fairly loud, but require very little maintenance. Drain the water out of your tank regularly, and it will last you for a long time! I'm pretty sure that GE motor was made here in the US, which you dont hardly find anymore!

Just for interest sake
My shop compressor is a 1970's DeVilbiss 5 hp 80 gal. Made in Barrie, Ontario Canada. Started in 1954, spun off as devair in 1998 Dr. Allen DeVilbiss started the company in 1888 making atomizers for healthcare.
self hydrotested the tank to 300 psi for a half hour in 2021 when I serviced the compressor valves. Parts still available
