Are Hot Dawgs quiet?

I was reading another thread about the Beacon Morris heater being noisy. Well I almost bought one and glad I didn't. Now I'm looking at a Hot Dawg or something else but I want one that is quiet. Any recommendations for a quiet natural gas 75k garage heater.

I have a mr heater 75,000 i bought from northern . i love it. nice a quiet .Cheaper than the hot dog.

I have the 60K BTU unit and its ok, the 60K and 75K units have the highest RPM fans of all the units at 1625RPMs. I would not want it any louder but its not bad, mine is a heck of a lot quieter then a torpedo heater of the same size. I don't have the to turn up the radio much to hear it over the radio and thats all that matters. I could not hear the music over my 100K torpedo.

I would say my 75K Hot Dawg is just a little louder than the old house furnace it replaced. Any forced air type unit is going to make noise.

I also have a Mr. Heater 75K BTU and I am pleased at how quiet it is.

I too have the Mr. Heater 75K BTU. It is very quiet. You can talk on the phone while standing next to it and have no problem hearing.

I also have a 75K Mr. Heater. It's quiet enough, but not "that quiet". Once it fires, you can definitely hear it. I have living space above and hung it from threaded rods with rubber insulating bushings. That damps most of the vibration, but I can still hear it upstairs. It's not annoying, but don't think it's whisper quiet. It's moving a decent amount of air, and it's also burning a fair amount of fuel when it's fired up.

Thanks guys. After some thought and the general lack of funds, I'm going in a different direction. I picked up an old house furnace and I'm going ot try that.

Check out a Dornback heater, they're made in the USA and are very quiet. And if you hunt on ebay you can get a brand new unit from one particular guy for very cheap. He'll sell you the proper stainless steel horizontal vent kit and a thermostat also. I paid $380 for my 45,000 BTU unit which was brand new in the box. I had a technical question about the heater and called Dornback direct and they were VERY helpful. They all seemed like great people. Just a suggestion.
