Are Klutch hand tools worth a purchse?

Has anyone used Northern Tools Klutch line of hand tools? I'm assuming they are like Home Depot's Husky line which is mostly mid level stuff. Anyone use any of the Klutch line of hand tools want to give their opinion or review of them?

A lot of them are great. The impact sockets are bulletproof, the cobalt drill bits are made by Chicago Latrobe (USA), their master extractor set is made by Irwin (USA). Their combo wrenches and chrome sockets are excellent as well, and well worth the money. Some stuff is hit or miss, the cheaper drill bits are ****. The welders are frekkin badass.

Impact wrenches or sockets? I have a few klutch impact sockets and I would say they are good quality. Their kits seem to have a pretty good level of coverage on sizes. If it was impact guns you were looking at, I can't comment on klutch either way, but fwiw we have IR 2135s at work, and they are fantastic impacts. We use them heavily, and they hold up very well. I love them.

I bought a full wrench set of there's probably 5 years ago. They where junk. Returned them the next day. Not sure if they have changed tho.

I have a pair of their channel locks and they're still kicking after about three years. The teeth are a little worn and the grips slipped off but they still function as well as most knockoffs do when new. No regrets for the price I paid.

Their vise grips aren't anything to write home about. In fact, they aren't terribly good at all. If you need to grab something that isn't going to move - like holding a piece of fence wire for tensioning - they do okay. If you twist or turn though they have a tendency to loosen up.

I never bought any of their screwdrivers.

most klutch hand tools are lipstick-on-a-pig versions of HF hand tools. Going to take a closer look at the drills though next time I'm there though after reading this.

I've been eye-balling their welders and plasma cutters. Seem pretty decent for the price. I just haven't seen any in action. I'm looking for a 220/240 Plasma cutter and a 220/240 Mig welder.
I have a Hobart Handler 140 Mig and a Hobart Air Force 250 Plasma. Both are 110 machines.
I also have a Miller 220/240 AC/DC stick welder.

Several years ago they appeared to be about a notch or two above HF. They may have improved some since then. They weren't even selling the "klutch" brand then.

Their quality seemed erratic at the time. For example, I bought a set of large combo wrenches from them at a low price and they were made well except that some of them had the size stamped on the handles and the jaws and some only on the handles. Strange. Yet, I have some of their adjustable wrenches that are excellent. Sort of like HF, in that they have some gems and some flops. I quit buying from them because it wasn't worth the cost of shipping the bad stuff back in the hope of getting a bargain.

The sockets are Taiwan made and look similar to kobalt and the new crescent sockets at ace hardware. Prices are better than china made craftsman and they don't skip sizes so you can fill up that socket rack with out breaking the bank.

Looks like 42485 & 42486 are either the only ones, or the only ones left. I picked up the bigger set now I finally own USA made drills.

There is more Klutch brand stuff than since the last time I was there, looks like they rebranded the Titan they were selling to Klutch. All the Titan-replacement tools like ratchets, extensions etc look decent, most are Taiwan with some China, but again these are all items that HF already didn't **** at.

Couple years back I bought their master snap ring plier set. What a complete waste of money, all of them are junk.

Anyone notice the 9" Klutch vise on the table in Fast & Loud this last Monday? I thought that was interesting. But some of the reviews on NT's site are not great.

good thing it was all paid for with gift cards, so no money came out of my pocket.

I like their chrome sockets; made in Taiwan and really nice labels. I think Tekton sockets are a little nicer for a similar price but the Klutch labels are much bigger and easier to read.

We use the air impact wrenches. We prefer Ingersoll Rand over Klutch because IR has a solid metal cover. We noticed that Klutch's composite cover tended to crack (usually at the trigger) over what we considered a short amount of time.

I have Klutch hex bits, e-torx (both for use with a socket wrench), impact sockets (1/2" deep, sae and metric), and a 3/4 breaker bar.

The hex bits are okay, not as good a fit as I'd like but have not let me down. The e-torx, in my limited use with them, have been good. The impact sockets are great, I use them frequently. The sockets are 5-6 years old and I like the full length taper on smaller sizes and deep broach. The breaker bar can get a lot of flex in it but has never let me down even on some pretty hefty uses. It's rare that I need it but indespensible when I do
