Are ledgerlok okay for lean to and 2x4 studs?

I'm building a lean to next to my garage. It will be 18' long and 12' wide (11' to the 6x6 posts with dual 2x10 sandwiched and notched into the 6x6 posts.

Due to headroom I was only going to use a 2x8x18' attached to the garage studs as the ledger, with 2x8 rafters (span table said 2x6 was too small).

My question is, can I use ledgerloks to fasten the ledgerboard to the studs? I'm very leary of using 1/2" lag screws as if you don't hit the stud dead center you're not going to get max support, and also that a 1/2" lag screw would be 1/3 the width of the stud, and i don't want to compromise the integrity of the studs.

If the inside of the garage is accesable I would install blocks between the studs and thru bolt the ledger. If that is not possible then careful placement of the screws would be the next best option.

Seems like I always got to ask what part of the world are you planing to build this.
Snow ? Hurricanes ? Earthquakes ? 24" or 16" OC. You get the picture all these come into play in makeing your plans.
That being said I would use a 2x4 as a ledger and notch the rafters to fit.
Deadwood blocking between the studs and real 16p nails{3 1/2"} stagered
6" OC to secure the ledger.Forget the lag bolts and use joist hangers.
But like I said more input is needed to get the right answer.
