What are you'll thoughts on Macs RBRT sockets are they a good at removing rounded allen bolts? Is there an alternative to Macs set such as Proto or another manufacturer? From what I'm seeing a comprehensive set if 500 which is pricey for my blood, but i do work with many allen bolts and some torx, rounding is an issue. Please share your experiences and if you know if there's an alternative!

Are MAC RBRT Sockets A Marketing Ploy?

There are a few threads on here, just plug RBRT and garagejournal into google. They are not just marketing and do work very well.
I also dont think you need to spend $500 if you primarily want them for just cap screws. If budget is a concern you can also avoid the very large sizes which generally dont strip.
You can find them under Proto (Advanced Bit) and Facom (Grip Bit) but I'd definitely stick with MAC for the ease of warranty. Just buy them as they pop up in the fliers or buy the individuals of your most used sizes.

I have had great luck with both the RBRT Allen sockets and extractors, I bought the 1/4” drive Allen set with SAE and metric in it because the sizes that I have strip are usually smaller sizes.

I had some stripped Allen head cap screws holding on a supercharger bracket on a VW Corrado engine block once, used some Craftsman brand knockoff turbo sockets to get them out. The holes were recessed so if that hadn't worked, I would have had to pull the radiator and maybe front bumper to get a shot at them with a drill.
Would the RBRTs have worked better? I don't know, they weren't an option then...

I bought the Proto version, and was DAMN impressed with how they worked on some New England rusted Subaru front sway bar end links. After I stripped the hex with some snap on gold bits, they held amazingly well and got those damn end links off.
I have no Mac truck, and have had 100% success with Proto and Mac mail in warranty, so I just went with a what was cheaper at the time...Zoro coupon for the Protos.
