Are porta power rams fairly universal??

Bought a used Porter Ferguson porta power this weekend, then realized the ram leaks like crazy due to damage. I dont have the money to buy a new PF ram, so I'm wondering if a common china made replacement will get me by for now. Doesnt anyone know if they are fairly universal or any recommended replacement? Or do i re-sell as parts and go visit the local HF for a new kit??[emoji53]

I remember the boss running out to buy a specific sized ram for our enerpac pump at Princess Auto (Canadian Harbour Freight) and it didn't fit. Lesson learned!

They are just hydraulic cylinders the couplings may be different but can be changed. Go to your granberries or parker store. (or any hydraulic line shop.)

This is what I found out, also... Coupler threads may appear the same, but were not interchangeable.

You might try taking it apart and looking for a new seal for it. Check around you might get seals for less than $10. The China porta power cylinders do not use standard seals. I tried 4 different full service hydraulic repair places and none could match it.

Yea, I'm going to mess with this one. If i can't fix it, I'll probably part out the kit. Thanks for the replies.
