I'm sure there are snap-on ratchet spanners with a back held on by screws like a typical ratchet head, i'm sure these could be rebuilt.

Most others seem to be some form of press fit and i doubt it would be economical to fix them rather than just warranty or buy new. I have cheaper and better quality ratchet spanners and they both have their place, no matter what you buy i would always go with a set with a lifetime warranty, make sure it covers moving parts. Mine are either Facom or Halfords Pro, only ever stripped 1 of the halfords and it was replaced no problem.

Some are rebuildable with screwed face plate as already mentioned and some have retaining clip. main advantage of above is is can clean and lubricate which means get smoother action .
Most are pressed in cover, cheaper manufacture and easier keep head slender .
Most midrange ones perform well these days, I do like mac or facoms design and retail cost . Gedore do good ones, Snapon with the dual 80 setup good but bit chunky head and price. Lot of the taiwan made ones perform well with 72tooth quite slender head and priced reasonable .

My sets are Blue-Point and I have taken them apart to clean and lube. Not sure if rebuild kits are available from Snap-On (never needed to ask), but definitely possible to rebuild if access to parts is possible.

No. The only thing I've ever seen serviceable on any ratcheting wrench is replacing the direction switch on Snap ons. I could be wrong but, I don't think any of them are rebuildable. :dunno:

The snap on reversibles have the slimmest head currently. The old ones were bulky but the new ones are the most compact. I did a thread on it recently. They are fully rebuildable now as well.

I have become a fan of the Proto reversable ratcheting spline wrenches. The splines are faceted and they really grab a bolt with gusto. The open ends are pretty kick *** as well. Overall, excellent quality wrenches. Mine are the black chrome ones...wish they were the normal chrome...I don't dig on black chrome.

I looked at the Snap On SOXRRM type wrenches and although the have the bolted on backplates, which one might assume would allow for rebuilding, the Snap On website under repair parts for these items, lists "no parts available". Would seem like a missed opportunity to me.
