I use SAE on my 68 caddy, don't know if they would work on my newer stuff and daily drivers.

I don't feel like you have a choice if you ever replace metal lines. Even replacement lines for older cars may be metric. I had to use 3 metric and one SAE replacing 2 lines on an older truck last week.

It all depends on what you work on. Buy quality used sets on ebay when you can find them. Consider only buying the sizes you use most like 8 x10 or 3/8 x 7/16. When you need them, you need em. :dunno:

+1 for depends on what you work on. Also might as well look up what you may need.

Also I regret not buying the set. Between brake lines, power steering lines, transmission lines, you'll need them all.

I own SAE FN wrenches because I needed a few sizes.

I own an incomplete variety of FN crowsfeet in both metric and SAE because I get by with what I have, then buy the right FN CF from the SO truck after so I have it in the future.

In a dealership, you're probably set with just metric. If you're not wanting to lay out the $ for both full sets, figure out what you'll actually need and buy just those.
